Your predictions (10-25)
Oct. 25, 2007 @ 11:19 a.m. by JoannaAlright, I want to know who YOU think will win.
Let’s start with tonight’s football games:
Andover vs. Andover Central. I’m taking Andover Central, but Andover desperately needs a win. Still, I think Andover Central wins.
Augusta vs. Rose Hill. Rose Hill wins here, but will it get the Rockets in the playoffs? It’s a close call. (Duane’s prediction: Rose Hill not only wins, Andover Central beats Andover by enough points that Rose Hill gets in.)
East at South. You have to predict two things here — How many yard will Bryce Brown get rushing (he needs 126 to tie his City League record last year) and who wins. I’m guessing he gets at least 200 and East wins big.
Onto Friday’s games:
Manhattan at Heights. I’m taking Heights. No question.
Southeast at Derby. Oooh, this is a toughie. Southeast wins. The Buffaloes are on a roll and too tough to stop right now.
Dodge City at Goddard. I don’t care about the scenarios that could put Dodge City in the playoffs. Goddard wins.
Maize at Northwest. Northwest win. Garrett Gould still puts up big numbers passing for Maize, but Northwest’s running game is too tough.
Give me your predictions!

You have to think, where would Dodge City be right now if Kale Pick had not got his thumb caught in a defender’s helmet in the season opener against South? Right now, they still have an outside chance for the playoffs. Obviously District 8 is one of the toughest in Kansas. Hutchinson is your automatic bid until someone else proves me wrong, and then Goddard, Dodge, and Garden beat up on eachother year after year. Dodge City beats Wichita East, Great Bend, and Garden City with Kale Pick!

Why didn’t you pick Bishop Carroll over Liberal? That is a “NO BRAINER” pick. BC is gonna kick those redskins. They don’t stand a chance.

Your guess for the East game was pretty much spot on. Bryce probably would have reached 200 yards if he had spent a little more time on the field. I heard he misbehaved at the JV game on Monday night which I assume cost him some game time tonight. Sounds like he’s ready to move on to the next big thing. The East team will be better off without him next year.

I wanto to know if South QB Shane Bowin got 1000 yards passing on the season and if so who was the last South QB to reach 1000? Just wondering if you could tell me that?

The Derby/Southeast matchup will be a tough one for sure but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Derby as the one to roll on as district champs. The offense has so many weapons and the linebackers are all healthy on Derbys defensive side of the ball. LBTaylor Bietler is getting D-1 looks and LB’s Meshack Kennedy and Ian Whittit are quick to the ball. This game will be on whichever defense can step up and make the stops. One added plus is that Derby has a proven kicker and SE seems to have to go for two most of the time.

I predict that there is State cross country tomorrow…and that this sports web site doesn’t know about it.

Ron, I still am wondering what D-1 schools are looking at Beitler. He is no where to be found on ANY recruiting websites. I have heard a lot about him being recruited but no real pub to back that up.

You don’t need pub from recruiting web sites to be recruited. Thats just for people to waste time out of their day to look at. They mean nothing. Kinda like the first 6 games on the HS schedule.

To Austin:
Shane did not reach 1000 yards, and the last one to reach 1000 was Steve Petty in 2003.

Hey Howard maybe you could answer the question. Who is the kid getting recruited by? I hate to break it to you but most of the kids that are getting serious looks from any D-1 program have their names out there on some site of some kind. Maybe some pub out of the Eagle would be nice?

Hey Check, if hes not on any recruiting web sites then how would I know who is recruiting him? My point was, you don’t have to have you name on a recruiting web site just to be recruited. How about asking Ron that question, sounds like he knows.

Howard,
Who told you this kid was being recruited?? This is a rumor that has been going around Derby since this kid came. Its as easy as one person saying oh..this is Taylor Beitler. He’s from Georgia. He can play ball and, oh yeah…he’s the number one recruited linebacker from that state. That person tells one other and that guy tells somebody at a scrimmage and then the next thing you know everybody thinks that Beitler is this big time linebacker. I have looked every where and talked to a couple buddies who coach and I cant find anything about this kid being recruited by anyone. HE CANT EVEN GET PUB IN THE EAGLE!!! Shoot, Derby cant even get pub in the eagle and they have totally changed their program around.

Ron:
“LBTaylor Bietler is getting D-1 looks”
Look up the page a little bit. Why do you keep asking me about Beitler? I’ve never even seen the kid. If you were to read my last comment…
“my point was, you don’t have to have you name on a recruiting web site just to be recruited.”
Ask Ron…..

I thought I would offer some info on T. Beitler. He played LB for GISA 2006 State Champions Tattnall Square Academy. In his only year at TSA, he was 1st team all-state as a junior and considered the top returning LB in GISA. GISA is a private school league so you will not see much if you are looking but make no mistake Beitler can play college ball at the D-1 level, if he wants. He has the size and speed. His family moved to Kansas, so unfortunately for TSA he did too, but TSA has the good fortune of having enough to likely win state this year as well.
