Garden Plain vs. Hesston
Oct. 30, 2007 @ 11:30 p.m. by JoannaOK, I’m not sure if this is dangerous or not, just opening up this thread to fans of these two teams. (I’ve been warned that open threads on the WE Blog — our editorial page blog — tend to get nasty) But I know there’s plenty of you interested in this game, judging by the number who have commented on an earlier post.
I’m also not sure what else you guys can say about this game. It should be an outstanding game between two stellar teams. Echoing an earlier post — too bad it happens in the second week of the playoffs. But whoever wins will go far in the playoffs.
I’m thinking of wussing out and not picking a winner because both are so good, but, for argument’s sake, I’m taking Garden Plain.
Let the comments begin.

October 30th, 2007 at 11:38 pm
garden plain is way too fast garden will stomp them
October 31st, 2007 at 7:58 am
Wow. A lot of thought went in to that post, eh, Tre?
October 31st, 2007 at 9:19 am
what time is this game going to be on saturday?
October 31st, 2007 at 10:50 am
7:00 kickoff. Be there early, for a seat. These teams will get after it. Hope to see some City League there as fans. True football atmosphere. There will more in attendance than the population of the town. Extra seating has been installed temporarily for the playoffs. Good concessions, at competitive prices.
October 31st, 2007 at 11:47 am
Tre- You from GP??? Just curious what makes you think Hesston doesn’t have speed as well. They are a well rounded and talented team. Including team speed. Should be a good matchup of undefeated teams.
October 31st, 2007 at 2:34 pm
GP does have alot of speed, but you don’t need to worry about speed when you have a running back like Logan Dold. I raced against him during track and he is pretty quick.
October 31st, 2007 at 4:11 pm
Tre Bailey is a player for WCS. But the person who posted that isn’t actually Tre Bailey.
November 1st, 2007 at 9:47 am
Dold is a good running back and he is quick, I have seen him on the track several times over the past 3 years. But, I guarantee you he will have to work for everything he gets on Sat. Not saying that Hesston will stop him completely, but he will be slowed down. The swathers have seen multiple good backs this year and have played against Dold 2 times. They know what he is about.
November 1st, 2007 at 11:38 am
Whats a Swather?
November 1st, 2007 at 12:42 pm
Surely most people in the Midwest know what a Swather is??? It is a piece of farm machinery that you use to cut alfalfa and such with. We call ourselves the Mean Machine. If you don’t know you will soon find out Sat. night.
November 1st, 2007 at 1:08 pm
man GP’s gonna roll hesston just like the last two years, Sat will be a big game
November 1st, 2007 at 4:23 pm
Looks like GP has a pretty good fan base. Wonder how many scouts will be there. Will Dold get 200 Yds? He might get to play more than 2 qtrs.
November 1st, 2007 at 7:21 pm
Yeah, they really “rolled” Hesston the passed two years. Not even a game. GP probably isn’t having practice this week. Fact is, I would be surprised if Hesston even showed up. GP is just so much bigger, better, faster, stronger. Scary!! Just another GP “blowout” of Hesston.
November 1st, 2007 at 7:51 pm
Well, these posts are very good and some very very insigtful. i’ve seen both teams play and while Garden Plain has a quick strike trounce you in the ground style of offense, Hesston has the speed to reduce the 55 yd touchdowns to a 5 or 6 yard gain. Hesston is not as one demintional as GP, while GP defense looks a bit stronger than Hesston’s.
Garden plain seems quite a bit weaker at QB unless Dold is in there. The Puetz nephew QB experiment will cost them in synergy and a down field passing attack, ala the Douglas game.
Hesston has a solid defense and solid offense but just doesn’t seem to be able to match up with the strength of GP…. Smash mouth football.
I would expect a very close 4th quarter game with GP squeeking it out unless their trend of on field mistakes give Hesston the upper hand and they make GP pay for complacency…..
I will be at the game impartially, just to watch a great, well played clean game.
It’s too bad they are meeting this early in the playoffs, I would have loved to see them in the quarters…..
November 1st, 2007 at 8:11 pm
ok Mr. Irony…who made it to state last year…yeah you can shove Saturdays score where the sun don’t shine
November 1st, 2007 at 8:20 pm
garden plain will win, they have logan dold, hes the team, and austin contributes a little, and drew becker can return punts, and ledy can kick, and brad youngers will kill somone on the o line and zach will dominate too and antonio contributes from the sidline and gets every one pumped, so does unrau! go GP
November 1st, 2007 at 8:21 pm
seenbothteams, just wondering if the GP/Douglas game is the only one you observed. If this is the only game in which you draw your conclusion concerning GP’s quarterback, then you will be quite surprised at how far this young man (a junior) has matured at this position. At the Douglas game he played as if it was his very first varsity start. Oh wait, it was.
November 1st, 2007 at 10:47 pm
Let’s just hope GP can run better than their fans’ mouthes.
November 2nd, 2007 at 8:58 am
Mr. Ftbl and Inbred—–Wake up!!!!!! Who cares you made it to state last year. This is this year. And I could name off 12-15 kids for Hesston that contribute every game as well. They will do that on Sat. as well. Both teams have good players. It very well could be a back and forth game going down to the wire just as the last 2 years have been.
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:43 am
It truly is comical to read some of the posts. Especially those that are simply fuel looking for someone to ignite. The comments that are obviously just trying to get under people’s skin are truly entertaining, but for even more entertainment value we get the people that respond. Thanks to all the contributors. OH, almost forgot to give some kudos for the wanna-be-coaches out their providing their deep insights and 20-20 hindsight vision to critique the REAL coaches that had the GUTS to actually make it their job. I am not ashamed to say the Hesston and GP coaching staffs have probably forgotten more FB strategy than I ever knew…however, if you want debate quality consession stands, I’m all in!! Here’s to another great game!!
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:43 am
This is going to be a great game. I am deffinately taking GP, but I am bias. By no means do I think they run away with the game and a previous poster is correct, Logan will have to work for everything he gets. At the same time, I don’t envy the Swathers for having the task of stopping him and the rest of that GP crew, they have solid running backs in reserve. I don’t like that I can’t make it back for this one, but everyone that can make it should try.
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:48 am
Dont have a horse in the race, but our league has two…GO OWLS & CS CARDINALS!! Represent us well!!
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:48 am
Mr. Irony….who said i was a fan…maybe i play for GP what of that, and maybe i just start varsity…hmmmm…and just i maybe played in the state game last year..huh weird
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:54 am
It will be a huge crowd on Sat. evening. GP is bringing in extra seating for this game. And to Deepthoughts: What makes you think some of the posters are not coaches????? And I guarantee that the coaching staffs for both sides have not forgotten about football strategies. Both teams will be well prepared for tomorrow night. I am picking Hesston in a close hard fought battle.
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:55 am
Sorry I did not know what a swather was. I guess I’m not a inbred redneck.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:11 pm
Jeff—That is a little harsh don’t you think. Just because we are a predominant farming state makes us an inbred redneck???? Come on now……. It is just a simple piece of machinery and the logo on the helmets looks pretty cool.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:54 pm
GARDEN PLAIN will win. Hesston is overrated. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Justafan… I have to lean to the side of “Seenbothteams” both are stacked, and well coached, the QB spot for GP is more than concerning for a big game. I don’t know the kid, and i’m sure he works his butt off or he wouldn’t be in the position, but I think it too will show up on Saturday evening. I too have seen both teams play, and the Hesston team works hard every play, while GP is expolsive and has tons of talent. it should be a great matchup
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Basically, who makes their logo after a piece of farming equipment?
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:23 pm
As I said in the other forum, in a close, quick decision game, the Owls get out coached, Hesston wins.
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:33 pm
Swatherland: Some of the posters may be coaches, but likely coaches of teams already out of the playoffs. I am certain Hesston’s coach is not posting on here, too much class. Reading? Maybe, everyone likes a good laugh. Posting? No way. From what I have heard, the GP coach is likely in then same realm of class. By the way, I didn’t say the coaches have forgotten all strategies, just that they have forgotten more than I will ever know…in simpler terms, they know their stuff and I don’t…get it? It was a slam on myself.
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:41 pm
Marcus - As was also said in the other forum, you likely rode the pine…
So are you even from GP or just wanting to grind an ax about the coach? I would consider the games the last two years as close and we seemed to do OK in the end. GO OWLS.
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:52 pm
bipartisan…I agree, GP QB spot is concerning…for Hesston. I think the tandem play at QB is awesome and creates a real wrinkle for opposing defense. Besides, no matter what QB is in, you still got to make it past that nasty o-line of GP.
November 2nd, 2007 at 4:20 pm
Marcus: was Hesston “outcoached” two years in a row by GP? Or was it a case Hesston “outcoached” GP and chose the L instead of the W. Has anything changed? I don’t think so. GP will unleash their rath upon you. If needed- you will see something that will blow your mind. GP has that secret weapon that has yet to be unveiled. :)
November 2nd, 2007 at 4:24 pm
The line is out! GP by 6.3. (according to Topeka Capital Journal).
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:11 pm
This is making me sick reading some of this. Can we just play the game already? Best of luck to both teams and a clean, well-played, injury-free game.
Go Owls!
For Jeff: By the way, Hesston use to be the home to a large farm machinery plant of the same name. I think AGCO bought them out, but I would assume that is where the Swather name comes from.
November 3rd, 2007 at 8:06 am
Thanks Pronk! Here it is–game day–and the paper STILL has TBA for game times.
November 3rd, 2007 at 8:45 am
Mr Deepthoughts, be sure and check out the new super nacho’s at the GP concession stand. Talk about a secret weapon!!!!
I think it is a shame that in order to feed ones self ego that they have to “Bash” Kids, coaches, or an entire town.
Niether team is bad, both are full of kids that for the last few months have practiced, studied, and done absolutely nothing to deserve what is going on here.
To say Dold “pads his stats”…what is he supposed to do when handed the ball, kneel down and take a loss, or do what he has been taught to do, run his butt off.
Puetz cant coach? My son is a Freshman with no hopes of ever seeing the field in this game, but when this “coach” talks to my he makes it a point to make him feel as important as a starter. Maybe he isnt a great coach but instead is just a great person.
Good luck to both teams and lets hope both teams show more class then most of the people on here that are using the keyboard as a way to try and make up for their own lack of success in life by acting as if the kids on both teams have some how done something wrong by doing the best they can.
November 3rd, 2007 at 9:15 am
Hey all ……it’s game day! This what we all have been waiting for…..I love this match-up. GP and Hesston matches up very well. Both teams have a very simular approach to the game. Up the middle stop-us if you can style. However I am very interested to see how GP’s spread style offense will work against Hesston’s “D”. I predict a low scoring game 21-14 at the very most. GP by 7.
Go OWLS!
Hesston…..most GP faithfull have the upmost respect for Hesston. Hope everyone is healthy after this one.
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:06 am
I think its GP 21-0.
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:46 am
It’s just a game…….
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:49 am
Judging by most of the posts on this site, one would almost have to root for the underdog - Hesston - just to quiet the hoard.
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:52 am
Let the game begin
November 3rd, 2007 at 12:18 pm
7 hours….
November 3rd, 2007 at 9:34 pm
Clear a spot in the trophy case -
THE OWLS ARE UNSTOPPABLE!!!!!!!
November 3rd, 2007 at 9:58 pm
42-0. Good luck next year Hesston, when ur 4A and you quit wasting our time with beating you.
November 3rd, 2007 at 11:21 pm
awesome game….for GP… what about that #14 QB… WIDE open passes that a 12 year old can make… oh, must have been his first varsity start huh…..not…. good luck against SL in three weeks!
November 4th, 2007 at 12:31 am
it doesn’t matter seenbothteams, hesston lost big and GARDEN PLAIN gets to play another week
November 4th, 2007 at 3:37 am
what now hesston. shut dold down hesston wins. well our back up runningback had 230 rushing. next time dont think gp is just dold fags
November 4th, 2007 at 7:11 am
On the wide open passes…..lets frame up game situation. 14 seconds til half…..up 14-0 on a good football team. Ummmm let’s see under throw or over throw. It’s a no brainer….I am sure the coach said were going to take a couple of shots make sure you over throw vs under throw. How would it have looked if he made the pass close and it was picked and ran the other direction???
Great game Daniel Capul…..keep running hard. I hope other teams come out and base their game strategy on stopping Dold.
November 4th, 2007 at 7:48 am
Congrats Hesston on a great season, and showing a lot of heart last night. That riemer kid was very impressiveand never gave up just like the rest of the team that kept fighting. Daniel Capul, all I can say is WOW!! I also thought it was great to see Dold be the first player there each TD to congratulate Capul. Nonselfish football = good things…..
GO OWLS
November 4th, 2007 at 2:27 pm
i was very impressed with the way garden plain ran the ball against hesston..#22 was awsome from what i saw, logan did good around the outside, lets hope they can do that next week against hoisington..now if hoisington stops garden plains running attack, then they are screwed big time.. #14 cant pass to save his ass, he over threw two receivers that “a twelve year old could of made” (seenbothteams)
November 4th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
14 rolled out to the left and coud not hit a guy fifteen yards downfield, all i know is that if any team wants to stop garden plain, all they need to do is make them pass…..becuase 14 cant do it..
November 4th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
hey GPOWLSFANSG…..if he was anything close to a decent quarterback he would have put those passes right over the recivers shoulders…i know of three other quarterbacks for GP that WOULD have made those passes
November 4th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
First big playoff game for Jacob. He has a nice touch on the ball and has made some tremendous throws this year for GP.
The thing I like most is he doesn’t do things to hurt us with turn overs and bad choices on the field.
Jake keep up the great work it will payoff. And how many statues have been errected to critics?
November 4th, 2007 at 3:26 pm
People who say 14 sucks u wouldnt know you were at the game well guess what i was on the sidelines and i heard puetz say not to pass it short he over threw them for a purpose so SIE o by the way puetz is one of the best coaches ever thats why gp is so good dont be mad because youve only lost 2 us for 3 years straight good luck in 4a and basketball
November 4th, 2007 at 4:45 pm
First congrats to GP. Huge interception on the first series gave GP and its fans the momentum and it was never lost. Also congrats to Hesston for a very good season. Be very proud of your accomplishments. KSU 95 well said. To State or bust, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if you have attended all the games, try to remember all the well carried out fakes, the on target passes, and the long runs, for these far out weigh the negatives #14 has displayed on the field this season. If you know of three better QB’s perhaps you should sit down with coach Puetz and discuss who you think should be in that position. I’m sure he would be very receptive of you ideas.
November 4th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
14 could not throw a ball to ne of his recievers. u better hope u dont have to pass the ball. cuz u cant rely on dold for everything. does gp have ne other qb’s??im sry but 14 sucked. good luck agaisnt hoisington u will need it
November 4th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
congrats gp
November 4th, 2007 at 6:47 pm
hey owlbacker…..dumb freshman thats all i have to say…you are a stupid freshman and dont know anything
November 4th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
it is funny i mean every one is like, 14 does not suck he over threw him cause the coach said not to underthrow it. when u have a receiver with 5 yards of seperation than u have to hit the guy, it is that simple. if you can not make the easy throws, get off the field. if the coach said not to over throw them than he should of put them right in over their shoulders.
November 4th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
no excuse for overthrowing a guy by ten yards
November 4th, 2007 at 9:25 pm
seenbothteams is right i mean, you have to hit the easy passes, thats it
November 4th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
Hey Hesstonrb29: SIE. If you were at the game, you would have known that Capul was the key player. I dont recall us relying on Dold.
For all those bashing our QB, I’d like to know who you all would rather have in that position. Unless you all have coached these kids for 4+ years and know something we dont, quit the uninformed misinterpretations of our quarterbacks.
November 5th, 2007 at 12:50 am
pauly would have connected on both of those passes, still never heard a reason why pauly isnt the starting qb, he is a much better passer and carries out his fakes much better then puetz ever has, the only reason i could come up with was because jacob was the coach’s nephew and he was faster then pauly, its definately obvious he didnt win the job for his passing abilities!!!
November 5th, 2007 at 5:52 am
Everyone has their opinion I’ve watched every game,Jacob’s play it
was shaky at Douglas, but has looked very good since. He has
complete around 55% of his passes & is averaging around 12yds
a carry on the ground. Yes he didn’t have a good game against
Hesston, but G.P. doesn’t need a Q.B. to win the game just don’t
want one to lose it. A TRUE fan needs to back the team now not
trash the players or coach!!!!!
Go G.P
November 5th, 2007 at 7:56 am
I suppose 67 only sees the field because he is the coach’s nephew too? I guess being faster than Pauly doesn’t matter? You don’t even know what you are saying.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:13 am
Seenbothteams, your predictions before the game was so astute and accurate. I think your assesment of our QB is equally informed.
My uninformed and near sighted view tells me Jake will have a big game against Hoisington, throwing well when called on and doing the small things correct that allows GP to win. I don’t care who he is related to, he is the best for that position.
Swather, how is the young man that got injuried, I believe his number was 22. I hope it wasn’t serious, will pray for his recovery.
Good luck next year in 4a the Swathers will be just fine.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:35 am
Looks like there is allot of kid bashing going on in here…. Let the facts of the game speak for themselves. GP had a much better game plan and executed very well in all aspects of the game, offense/defense/special teams…..
All remember, it is a team sport and teams find ways to win when they are not strong at all positions. GP has a killer Defense as shown Saturday evening, they have a stable of STUD RB’s… Dold can punt, although I don’t know what that first punt was, (more like a line drive). they don’t need a passing attack right now and probably won’t until Silver Lake.
#14 will get better as he get’s more reps, but “Seenbothteams” is right my god you cannot overthrow by 10 yards when the receiver is open by 5 yards……… yikes maybe he was jittery, or over pumped…. The fact that he is the coaches nephew and playing QB should not surprise anyone, no big deal there. If all things are equal, who would you give the ball to, if you were the coach, the JR… He can build on this year and help them win state again next year?
Look out at Colorado…. The buffs head coach gave his own son the ball. It is nothing new to sports and in a small town it is certainly expected. As long as you win everything is rosey. Go GP!
November 5th, 2007 at 10:45 am
Bipartisan - Nice job of appearing as if you are concerned on the bashing of kids and dishing the kodus while still finding the avenue of slamming the player and the coach! Really nice touch of mentioning God as a way to justify your comments. I will make my point more clear so you understand. If you are not intentionally trying to put this QB in a bad light, then why are you so focused on such an insignificant part of THIS game, namely three bad passes. You are also insinuating the reason the kid got the starting job was because he was the nephew of the coach. This is insulting to the hard work of this young man and also the integrity of the coach. This young man EARNED the spot and the coach has EARNED the respect you are obviously not giving him. Now, go morph into one of your other posting names and support your “bipartisan” comments…or maybe just go away.
Go OWLS.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:49 am
Super nachos were excellent…thanks for the heads-up OWLBACKER!
November 5th, 2007 at 10:58 am
KSU95 - Hesston’s #22 dislocated his hip and they had to sedate him at the hospital to get it back in (hate to see kids get hurt like that). I hear he was home that night. Hesston missed him on both sides of the ball (but not sure that it made a difference in the outcome of the game). Was surprised that there wasn’t an ambulance on site at the game that they had to carry him off the field with a dislocated hip and then wheel him away on a gator rather than a stretcher; had to be in a lot of pain. (Had a kid not an adult driving the gator too :(
Just a comment; I’m always amazed how people watch a couple of games and then think they can make better decisions as who should be playing, e,g. QB for GP; when coaches watch countless hours of film, have hours of practice with these kids but the fan knows more than the coaches. I can’t believe coaches really would put someone out there that they thought would jeopardize a game. Kids (and adults) make mistakes and that’s what happens in games. Not everyone is perfect; heck just watch the NFL and College, it happens all the time. Good luck to GP; Hoisington runs a great offense and is fun to watch.
You’ve got to love high school football!
November 5th, 2007 at 11:23 am
How is Hoisington? What type of “O” do they run? Tough “D”????
November 5th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
They have a fast backfield and run an offense a little like Conway Springs - single wing. They do a great job of hiding where the ball is and who has it. One of their best players Brungardt has been hurt but the Horesky kid is good too. Their defense is tough but GPs line is bigger and if GP is as prepared for Hoisington as they were for Hesston; then GP shouldn’t have any problems. Hoisington’s passing game isn’t that great as their bread and butter is their running game. From what I hear Hesston was lucky to beat them; a couple of key penalties and turnovers made the difference (but good teams make you do that)
November 5th, 2007 at 12:17 pm
LovesSports: It sounds as if Hesston’s 22 will recover, very glad to hear that information, but will still keep him in my prayers. Good points on how the situation was handled, will pass your comments to school admin for future improvement.
Lastly, thank you for the comments in your second paragraph…TOTALLY agree.
November 5th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
“Whatever” Funny, Looks like you took my comment the wrong way.. I actually supported the coaches for playing #14.. All things being equal, I would play the jr. QB, for building for next year.. Just read the post for what it is….an Opinion…. We all have them… I don’t know what other options they have, at this point. and my Opinion is he runs well, options better, can’t throw a 15 yd post, Is probably the best GP has in the position, less Dold.
GP is talented and should win state. However, they are not the Patriots. So any deficiency that can be improved is open game. Get over it!
Go OWLS…. WIN STATE
Go Hesston in 08′
November 5th, 2007 at 1:04 pm
Well I am glad it wasn’t life threatening, however it is serious. I will continue to pray for his recovery.
Good luck and God bless.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
I have a question. Is it acceptable that an opposing teams’ fans would tear down signs that were put up for motivational support at a football game? Is this something that is going on elswhere? Does that demonstrate bad sportsmanship? Does that elude to fun? I was wondering- I did witness that several times at GP”s game. any input from someone ?
November 5th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
What happened? Had not heard about this?
November 5th, 2007 at 3:07 pm
LoveSports: I believe there WAS an ambulance at the game. It was a big white, and had flashing lights once they loaded him onto it.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
owl4life must have an axe to grind. My guess is Pauly is a relative.
Way to support your team.
Let’s see. Why would one kid ever start over another? Hmm. I’ll go out on a limb and say performance in practice perhaps? Leadership qualities? Being coachable? Physical Ability? I’m not saying either kid won or lost the position on any of these areas, just listing some of the factors that would go in to the decision. I guess none of us knows unless we are at practice/locker room/film study every day.
Your team has a legitimate shot at a title and you’re whining because your son/nephew/neighbor kid got beat out. Head coach’s job is to put the best team on the field. Give him some credit. It’s a tough job picking the best kid for a position let alone having to worry about the coffee shop talk sniping at him if that kid is related. Don’t be the “Yeah, But” guy. “Yeah, but Billie Joe Bob would have had 300 yards and 4 TD’s if he was playing instead of #22.” Don’t be Uncle Rico: “Ohhhh, man I wish I could go back in time. I’d take state.”
Zero is the important number: Wishbone QB has no fumbles, no INTs, and offense puts 42 points on the board against a playoff caliber defense. Hmm, sounds like a pretty good job to me. From what I’ve seen, smart kid, know his place in the offence, and doesn’t make mistakes. I’ll take a 10% grade on 2 plays, in trade for a 90% grade on the rest any time.
I’ve seen a lot of good teams ripped apart by “coffee shop” talk and whining parents. A delicate physical and mental balance is required to win a state title. Embrace your team and cheer it on. Don’t be the weak link.
Signed
Non-GP person
November 5th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
Several carloads of girls took it upon themselves to tear down the roadside signs that were put up by boosters the night of the GP/Hesston game. I know for a fact that there was at least two carloads fo Hesston fans that did that.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:58 pm
Hulkster75… Now that is an outstanding post! Congrats on bringing back to reality what this is supposed to be about.

I’ve read every post on here and while some are over the top with ridcule and spite others are very informative and right on the mark. The Owls have the most dominate team right now and it is because of the team play. We are the strongest team and will win as a team..
All the kids work there tails off and are proud to be Owls. We will be great for the next 4 years as well. Coach will do what it takes to win no matter what. If we need to throw to win we will, if not we will grind the other teams up like hamburger…..
Our defense is a solid 10, Offense is a high 9, and our special teams is a 10… Hard to beat that!
WIN STATE

JoeShmoe - please don’t take the comment about the ambulance as a critical comment. I too saw the lights on top of the vehicle once it pulled into the stadium parking lot. Had it been there in the beginning they would have brought the stretcher out to the field to pick the athlete up who had dislocated his hip & carry him off with a stretcher rather than 3 - 4 people carrying him and possibly causing more damage. It’s possible it could have been on another call.
Also, my comment to Pronk about the kids taking down the signs is . . . high school teenagers are going to be high school teenagers and not show the class that adults should (hopefully when they mature they’ll know better). Not sure if roles were reserved and the signs had been in Hesston that GP students wouldn’t have done the same. I agree it showed good spirit by GP boosters to put them up. That’s what small towns and HS football is all about. Nothing brings a town more together than a winning football team!
Country- show some class or get off the posting!

Just looked up #14’s stats for season including Hesston game
Passing 26 attem. 14 comp. 370 yards 26.4 yard average
Rushing 25 carries 289 yds 11.56 yard average
4 tds rushing & 4 passing with 0 interceptions.
& completion % is 53.8.
That sounds like a perfect Q.B. for G.P’s offence to me.
& I’m not even related to him.
Good Luck Owls & #14 keep your head up you earned it

I dont care for all this bashing. Its a good thing # 14 doesnt read these “discussion boards.” He is way better than any of you all give him credit for.
Its time to move on to the next game though. Isnt this topic a bit old?

To all questioning the quarterback:
The coaches have made their decision and they need to stick with it. The playoffs are not the time to be switching quarterbacks. Puetz should be fine. He just needs to work on finding the receivers as fast as possible coming off of play-action. If he does that, things will take care of themselves.
Also, hurrying the throw can lead to missed passes. That’s what I took the last two plays before half to be. He saw how wide open they were and just rushed it. As long as he practices at full speed and gets the mechanics down, the games will take care of themselves. Repitition is the key to a great throwing form and precision on your passes.

Dang!!!!!!!!!!!! I meant repetition up there. ^

ok for everyone talking about puetz (14) and knows nothing- i am pretty sure coach said to not throw it behind him and it would be smarter to throw where if the reciever cant get it then the defender definately cant get it. and when everyone is saying he cant complete a pass you obviously havent seen him play much.
capul was awesome, 230 yards, cuz they only focused on logan. not smart.
GO OWLS- BEAT HOISINGTON

We Rule….. Medicine Lodge, Hesston, Hoserton (next….) will make our well coached teams look like world beaters……… who cares if we have a QB, just hand it off to the studs to ram it down your Arses!

November 5th, 2007 at 11:30 pm
Agree with you KSU and will see you before the game to get your prediction! Here’s hoping for a well played game with no injuries.
Also want to Thank the Hesston fans for sticking by their team and for being good sports. It has been a pleasure to face you the past 3 years - good luck in 4A.

I agree, time to move on. Will close with my thoughts to Hesston fans and players. Very Classy from what I observed. Been to all games the last three years. Every year Hesston shows up to play football. Players never quit and were still helping GP players up and patting them on the pads even when the game was out of reach.
Also, it never ceases to amuse me that at games, the folks that were never worth a darn at any sport, at any level, are the biggest critics. Could the same be said for the posts on this site?
True GP supporters, let our voices be louder than the critics and support the boys and coaches all the way to a state title. Go Owls

Yeah, what he said…..Go Owls!

I rock

I guarantee there have been state championships won and perfect coaching decisions made at the tailgate parties in the park. Let the alcohol flow and keep making a good impression for our young people and winning those verbal matchups.

At this point, your teams are still alive and playing and that’s what it’s all about right? Hoisington is not different than any other team this year. They beat the teams they were supposed to be and lost to Hesston. No sour grapes folks, sometimes the Better teams on any given night just don’t win (We’ve all seen it at all levels).
I guess that’s why “WE PLAY THE GAME”. The smack and chat is fun and does anyone think that Garden Plain will do many different things Saturday than they’ve done all year?
At this point you ride the horse(s) that got your team to this point whether your Hoisington, Garden plain, Scott City, Or Conway Springs Etc.
The playoffs are exciting times… Good Luck!

haha hesston chokes on cow cock….GP, state champs……hesston……keep sucking cock…..haha
November 7th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
P.I.M.P. Why don’t you stand behind another team. There isn’t anybody from GP that would want you to be even affiliated with that community. My apologies go out to the Hesston community and team. That does not represent the Owl standards. What you post is pathetic and repulsive. I hope that repercussions follow the posts that you have made. There is no place for that here.

Immature post PIMP… How classless and utterly unrepresentitive of what the GP team stands for. Run your smack, but please keep it above board.. This site is fun for what it’s worth but when people choose to dive to the depths of PIMP it ruins it for all…. Good discussion about strategy and performance of one team or another is open for differing dialog and spirited conversation is what it’s about.
The earlier (thankfully over) discussion about the QB position was very spirited and really what the post should be about.. Not animal sex… YOU PIG!
November 9th, 2007 at 11:18 am
pimp….come on now have sum respect…..hesston is a great team we are just way better….not a big deal…..im sure they will do great in 4a mext year…possible state shamps but thats beside the point…..dnt bash them just because we did.
