You pick ‘em (11-2)

Tonight is Class 6A and 5A football, so here’s a handful for you to debate:
Maize at Hutchinson (If Hutchinson doesn’t win this, I’ll, well, I don’t know what I’d do.)
Junction City at Derby (I think Junction City is irked after losing to Emporia last week and having to travel to Derby. Junction wins.)
Wichita Southeast at Emporia (This is definitely a winnable game for Southeast, but I think Emporia wins.
Salina Central vs. Kapaun at WSU (Hmmm, this is tough. How about Kapaun in a squeaker over Salina Central — but only if Kapaun can stop Central’s running game and Andrew Braxton)
Newton at Carroll (Carroll, no question)
Now for the lone Saturday game in 5A and 6AÂ — Liberal at McPherson (McPherson wins in a walk.)
OK, I went out on a limb — which I detest doing — you need to, as well.

I hate to wimp out but I have to agree with Joanna’s picks on those
games. So I’ll add the other two games in the western half of each
bracket:
6A Goddard at Wichita Northwest - taking the roadie on a hunch.
5A Great Bend at Seaman - Again the road warriors win here but it
should be close.
Can’t wait for a load of games on Saturday as well!

Derby 28, Junction City 15 - Junction still in a state of shock after losing to Emporia last week underestimates Derby, as several other teams have done, and get stung by the panther’s Triple-Shock Power.”
Maize 17, Hutch 14 - Hutchinson mistakenly thinks that all they have to do for a win is take to the field and gets shocked with a last second field goal.
Emporia 35, Wichita SE 14 - The twin runing backs can’t do it all!
Wichita NW 21, Goddard 20 - This will be the close game of the night.

Is it jealosy? Look at the Smith Center blog and see more accusations of steroids. Maybe testing would be appropriate for the state to look into.

Who cares about the East? Who cares about any of the football teams in Wichita? When is the last time a public school in Wichita won a state championship in football? If you want to see real football, look outside of Wichita and to some of the other divisions. The best game in the state might be 4A Louisburg vs. Pittsburg on Saturday. And I would put Smith Center up against your precious Wichita NW anyday.

Got to agree with Aaron about Pittsburg-Louisburg. If that isn’t the
best second rounder, then it’s probably the much ballyhooed Hesston-
Garden Plain matchup. Don’t know if it will be much of a game but
I’m also curious about who would win the 2-1A second rounder
between Oakley and LaCrosse, both unbeaten. The winner likely gets
Smith Center in round three.

Eaglenator - Don’t throw out inflammatory comments about steroids without substantial evidence. Never, have I heard anything about steroids in that program. Go look at the kids without their uniforms on and tell me that they look like steroid users. Are you saying that their winning ways that came with Dreiling indicate that they use steroids? If so, then are you accusing Dreiling of giving players steroids? If so, then please give your true name, so you can be sued for slander.

Well i have a few things to comment on. Lovin the idea of Maize winning as much as we are rivals it would have been great to see an underdog rule. Hutch on steriods? Who woulda thunk it. Anyways on to the real reason im posting, in your flippin face NW! Not only did we win we pretty much dominated. Next time you wanna say we haven’t played a team of NW’s ability, you may wanna wait until AFTER the game coach. Movin on up lions! Lets take JC and Hutch!!!

Enjoy you season of success Goddard. You have several good players in the senior class, but you will struggle for the next several years. Your JV is average and same with the other levels. Without watkins you would be .500 at best and when you lose him and that big line you will struggle.
