Tonight’s games (2-1)

Feb. 1, 2008 @ 12:09 p.m. by Joanna

Can you believe it’s already Friday? Unbelievable. But here we are with another round of games to check out.

Easily the best boys game in the City League is East at Heights, tied for third in the City League with three losses. East won the first game.

Andover at Andover Central is also intriguing  — Andover’s 13-0, Andover Central 9-4. Don’t let Central’s four losses fool you. The Jags have homecourt advantage and it’s a big rivalry. Does that mean I’m picking Central? Nope. Have to go with Andover ’til the Trojans lose (if they do).

Northwest at Carroll doesn’t sound too interesting to me, nor does Southeast at Kapaun. They could turn out to be tight matches, but there’s really no outstanding story lines here.

On the girls side, the City League has a weak list. In the area, Cheney at Garden Plain (10-4 vs. 11-2) should be tough. Throw in the rivalry factor and it looks good.

Boy, it’s a slow night for intriguing basketball games. Am I missing something?  Smoky Valley boys at Collegiate? Smoky Valley is 3-1 in the MCAA, but….

Maize at  McPherson? Hmmm. Mac can’t be pleased with having lost two straight at its own tournament — when was the last time that happened? — and Maize is at .500. On the girls side, it could be OK. Maybe.

Not a lot to focus on here, unless you see something else. Fill me in!

    You’re right…kind of a snoozer.

Maize will be hurting tonight. Starters Drew Fawcett will not be play tonight or against Northwest tomorrow due to strained ligaments in his ankle.

Another Maize starter (Ross Rupe) will not play tonight either because he has been sick the past 3 weeks.

Maize will hold McPherson to a low amount of points but unless Alec Hermanson goes 14-14 from 3 point range. Look for McPherson to come out on top.

If wichitaeagle.com is correct, then maize just stunned mcpherson 61-56!!!! WOW! I was wrong. Look for Maize to dominate from now on!
