Brian Byers is NOT an East player

Every day in my job I strive for perfection. In real life I fail miserably. In my job, failure is not an option.
Yet in my quest to meet my deadline last night following the East-Southeast basketball game at the Kansas Coliseum, I referred to a Brian Byers from East. Now, folks, Brian Byers is the football coach at East. MATT Byers is the player from East, Brian’s son.
That I made the mistake galls me to no end. You’ll see a correction in tomorrow’s paper. Crap!
I am well aware of the differences between Matt and Brian, but I’ve caught myself doing it in earlier games. The difference here is I didn’t have as much time to proof read. Not an excuse, just a fact.
I had a problem with South’s Christine Elliott, too. Too often I caught myself writing East’s Christine Elliott (she played there through her junior year).
Anyway, I’m sorry to Matt, and I will continue to strive for perfection.

Joanna,
I am an East High alumni and I think I speak for everyone. We forgive you. I think you are doing a GREAT job. I enjoy following the City League but since I currently live just north of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania I have a hard time getting real time scores. An error or two now and again is a small price to pay for quick results. I appreciate your dedication. Thanks.
