Tonight’s games (2-15)

In the wake of another classic East-Southeast boys basketball game, we have this on the schedule: Carroll (8-9) at North (3-14), Heights (13-5) at West (1-16), Kapaun (8-9)Â at Northwest (7-11). In other words, three of the top four teams in the City League don’t play.
Which is why I’m heading out of the city to Maize at Derby tonight. Not the most amazing game, considering Maize is at 10-9 and Derby’s at 10-7. I’m really there to watch Derby’s Joanna McFarland for the first time this season — certainly one of the best players in the state. The Derby girls (13-4) are struggling, having lost to Salina South (what the heck!) and then Hutchinson. Maybe Maize (10-7) can make this interesting, after all, the Eagles beat Hutch last night.
Andale boys and girls at Andover Central has promise, although I think Andover Central girls will win fairly easily. Andover at Mulvane boys could be good, although I think the undefeated Trojans will win. Rose Hill’s at Buhler, which I would have liked to see the girls game there.
One of the biggest games of the night has to be Trinity at Cheney. Trinity’s 17-1, Cheney is 16-2. I think JLutz will be there. I know for sure he’s been to Cheney before — hee, hee. That’s an inside joke. Sorry. Ask him to blog about it.
Maybe I’m having post-good game depression. I just can’t get up for these games tonight. Lord knows it can’t be because this season is so long. Have I been back a month yet?

Maize 59 Derby 53. Maize girls played very well! This is a huge improvement considering Derby beat them 57-34 the first time they played each other!
