One day you’re in, the next day you’re out…

A little Project Runway in my title there. By the way, I was at basketball on Wednesday, who got kicked off? Oh, wait, this is supposed to be about high school sports. Sorry.
We’ve got one more night of sub-state basketball and we’ll get the state pairings tomorrow morning. Already the area has advanced Goddard girls, Heights girls, Carroll boys are in, too, so is McPherson.
But tonight we’ll get a whole lot more answers to who’s going to next week’s state tournaments. I’ll be heading back to Campus to check out Southeast vs. Garden City and East vs. South. I’m liking Southeast to get back to state, but how about East or South? I’m counting on a good game, there. Heights and Northwest are playing in Manhattan, with Heights trying to end a nearly decade-long drought of going to the 6A tourney, while Northwest is trying to get there with a losing record.
In 5A girls, Kapaun has a tough road against Emporia, but I think Carroll will cruise against Valley Center. Mac and Hutch both are playing in sub-state finals — not against each other, though.
In 4A, Andale and Clearwater girls make up an outstanding doubleheader in Andale with Cheney and Hesston playing on the boys side. At Andover Central, I love the matchup of Rose Hill vs. Andover Central and Andover Central boys vs. Andover. Andover boys and Central girls are undefeated.
3A has a finals matchup I didn’t expect with Wichita Trinity and Belle Plaine facing off. I’d predicted all along that Collegiate would face Trinity. I’ve been wrong before. Collegiate girls play Garden Plain. I like seeing the Collegiate girls rebounding after last season, a disappointment that followed their undefeated season. But Garden Plain is always tough. Gotta love coach Darrow, too. He’s one of my favorites.
Berean Academy has both its boys and girls in the sub-state finals in 2A, facing Moundridge on the girls side, Oxford on the boys.
Looks like another night of good basketball — busy, but it should be interesting. If you check out a game tonight, let’s hear about it.

Dear Joanna:
We appreciate your updates, but how about giving some scores of these games. We would like more information.
Thank You.

If you want to see some real basketball it’s at Central tonight. #1 girls team and #1 boys team playing back-to-back.
