Banished from the press box — to the men’s locker room

Well, I got kicked out of the press box here at the K.T. Woodman track meet at Wichita State. No, I wasn’t cheering (a major no-no!) nor did I cause any other problems. Really, I was the only one up there. Well, not exactly. They shut the press box down because some of the athletes were milling around up there, so the elevator was locked and I had to leave. At least my computer wasn’t stolen.

I’m now in the much warmer men’s locker room. Yep. The heat is on high, they’re handing me results, I have an ether net connection — and no one is in here but the good WSU people doing the results. Life is good. That is, until I head outside. I think it might have warmed up about a degree.

This meet is so unbelievably long. We’re in the 400 meters now, the boys side, and there’s still the 300 hurdles, 800, 200 and 4×400. Aaah! I’ll be here all night. But that’s OK. The kids have been fun to talk to.

I just walked by Bucklin’s little nest of athletes. No lie, eight of them were covered in individual blankets, lying on their sides, sleeping. Funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

as usual, a few apples ruin it for the rest. post a warning: any athlete caught in the elevator or press box will be removed from the meet, and team will be reduced points.

that sucks, as pressbox is the best place to catch the meet, especially if you are PRESS!!!!!!!!!!
