The track meet that just won’t end

No lie, I don’t think this track meet (K.T. Woodman at Wichita State) will ever end. Thank God we’re finally in the final event. Of course, there’s so many Class 4A and 3A schools that it could still take forever. Aaah!

Not that this is bad. Wichita State has been great about getting me results and posting them for coaches. Everyone I’ve come into contact with is pretty cool, as they should be since we’re all freezing our behinds off out here. I’ve chatted with a Clearwater pole vaulter, Ethen Hoepfinger (he said he’s had to spell out both names his whole life) who said the cold and wind affected him during the competition, even with getting his steps right. A Valley Center athlete and I talked about sore backs and I gave her waay too much advice on how to handle it (18-year sufferer of lower back pain that I am.)

I talked to two of the four starters, even getting info on their starter’s pistols. Funny story on starter’s pistols. My husband has a starter’s pistol (it’s up high in the closet), and about 8 years ago my stepdaughter saw it and promptly went home to tell her mother that “Daddy has a gun.” Oh. My. God. Yeah, that created some issues, let me tell you.

I watched Wichita State track coach Steve Rainbolt walk his daily four miles during the 200 and the 4 by 400 races. I guess he walks four miles or runs two miles every day — he’s on a four-year streak. That is truly impressive.

All right, I better quit blogging and go see if 4A and 3A have finally finished the girls 1600 meter relays.
