Attending the funeral, you could see the impact that Jerry had on so many people. For me personally, Jerry was a great friend. I taught with Jerry from 1996- 1999. Those three years at Hanston were probably the three best years of my teaching career. The community and the faculty I was with were oustanding. Jerry was a big part of that. When I had times where I was frustrated about something, Jerry was there to encourage me and just make me laugh. I am sad to see Jerry go but I am happy to know that I will see him again. He is probably already organizing a team in heaven.

I moved my family to Hanston in 1989 when my son was just starting his freshman year. He played for Mr. Slaton, and I took defensive stats. He had a huge impact on both my son and daughter. He was more than a coach, he was a true mentor to all who really got to know him. He may have benn short in stature, but he was a giant in alot of lives. He will truly be missed.

Coach was able to get a bunch of skinny, scrawny farm boys to think they were football players. Some how he was able to inspire us to play like winners and become champions. He will be sorely missed.
