Recruiting update (4-28)

Chatted with East basketball coach Ron Allen and he said three of his players have committed.
Jawanza Poland is going to Cowley, Eric Hardyway to Coffeyville and Garrius Holloman to Cowley.
Holloman had a shot at going to Florida Atlantic, but when coach Rex Walters left for San Francisco, Holloman decided that he didn’t want to go through the whole recruiting process again with yet another coach. He looked at Utah State, but decided it was too far from home.
SMU was an option, but Allen said Holloman decided that instead of doing all this real quick and rushing through the process, he’d take a year at Cowley, improve his game and then decide.
“He’ll be in good hands,” Allen said of Cowley coach Steve Eck. “And I can go watch him.”

I don’t know that Cowley is going to have enough balls on the rack for all of his players. Holloman, Gantt, Russell, Barnes, Poland, Marshall, Fields from Ark City, Rhone from Leavenworth, along with Crowder, Atwater, and Butler from KC returning. Plus you know Eck is going to bring in his out-of-state kids. He isn’t going to bring them in if he isn’t planning on playing them. I just know that you can only play 5 at a time. Hopefully he has a big rack!! That is a helluva roster. Good luck!

Holloman, Poland, Russell, Gantt, Barnes, Marshall, Fields from Ark City, a kid from Leavenworth, and 6 out of state kids, plus throw in the returners in Atwater, Crowder, and any of the other freshman they had last year. I don’t know where they are going to get enough balls for that team. Hopefully they change the rules and let this team play with 2 during the games and more than 5 players on the court at once.
With that being said, that is a tough roster. Good luck to them. Hopefully he can keep all of them happy.

You can only certify 5 out of state kids to play in the Jayhawk Conference, so I’m sure Eck will redshirt a few of those kids. Good basketball guy, I’m sure he knows what he is doing!

That is false, Gantt has already signed with Georgia Southern and is waiting on his ACT score to see if he qualifies. If he doesn’t, he’s off to Cowley.

Sorry for the repeat. It didn’t go through right away so i retyped it.
Only 5 are you sure. Hutch has 6. Seward has 6. Pratt has 6. Neosho has 6. Independence has 6. Allen has 6. Maybe I’m wrong but i think you should reread the rules.
As another posted stated, “When in Rome”. I’m not quite sure what that means…but I think it could apply here.

East high is still loaded. I liked the freshman kid they had on varsity. Saw him play a few times in tournaments. Nice, aggressive game.
