Lose Yourself

May 13, 2008 @ 11:53 a.m. by jlong

Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted-One moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?

That’s the introduction given by rapper, Eminem before his hit single “Lose Yourself.” I led with this because it’s truly what post season play is all about. You go through all those preseason workouts, all that off-season training, all that time and effort you’ve put in for to seize the moment. A two-week stretch of Carpe’ Diem.

So hats off to Rose Hill and Augusta, the No. 7 and No. 6 seeds respectively in the Class 4A regional being played at El Dorado. Rose Hill upset No. 2 seed Andover and Augusta defeated No. 3 seed Douglass last night. Now one of the two squads will advance to region championship game. And from there…who knows?

Other squads who pulled off upsets last night:

No. 7 Ulyssess defeated No. 2 Pratt

Softball

No. 7 Concordia defeated No. 2 Topeka-Hayden

  1. Patrick Hines says:

I think the biggest upset so far this regional week is in 6A baseball.

12th seeded Shawnee Mission North (0-18) SHOCKS the 1 seeded Olathe East Hawks (17-3) 3 to 0.

You talk about seizing the moment. Well, here’s a prime example.

  2. Opportunity Knocks says:

Shawnee Mission North, 0-18 and came 1 run away from going to state tournament. Play them on the field when it counts.
