Who loves Goddard?

Is anyone else tired of all my question titles. Ah, well, I did it again.
But what I want to know is who loves Goddard? We either get a lot of Goddard fans on this blog or we get a lot of a couple people posting. Either way, I’ve been amused by the comments that I’ve received lately from readers who think that we hate this school or that school or just don’t give enough love to their favorite school.
And since Goddard has been the most vocal lately about how Goddard has gotten no love this spring season, I thought I’d answer this question. So as soon as I got to work this morning, I did a little research.
Here’s what I found of stories about Goddard or notebooks that included Goddard. Now these weren’t the ones that had a mention of Goddard — I didn’t count all of those — these were the ones that actually spent quite a bit of time on Goddard.
Baseball — Story vs. North (made the front page), story vs. Maize, story vs. Northwest.
Soccer — two notes in two separate notebooks, story vs. Maize, the season preview for the Wichita area.
Softball — story vs. Derby, story vs. Maize, the season preview for the Wichita area
Tennis — story at the Collegiate tournament, story at the Goddard tennis tournament, story at 6A tournament
Track — track notes, KT Woodman
Golf — notebook item, story at Andover Central Invitational.
Now, I’m not going to do this for every program, but I did it for Goddard because I was so thrown by the concept that there are actually people who think we’ve ignored Goddard. Honestly, we have 80 schools in the area, and there are very very very few schools who have gotten even close to the same amount of coverage as Goddard. Frankly, by looking at how much coverage we have put on Goddard, maybe we’ve been neglecting everyone else and need to focus on others. Hmmmm. Just a thought. Nah, Goddard obviously deserved the coverage it got. So do the other teams we cover.

Who is tired of hearing about Goddard and would rather see a track and field story for once?

You guys sure didn’t hesitate to write articles about the incident with girls basketball this year. It made the front page of the sports twice. Yet when we have a softball team go 20-2, win league and regional a little blur. Or a track team that wins 4 straight league titles, nothing. At least the Times Sentinel does a great job covering goddard sports. Nice interview of the kid from campus who got kicked off the goddard team last year, that is someone who deserved some coverage.

Joanna, please only write about Goddard from now on. Please only write about what the people from Goddard want you to write about from now on. Please only write about their wins, and don’t mention their losses from now on. And for crying out loud, please only do not use paper space to write inspirational stories, like the one about Curtis Dolezal, when you could have been writing about Goddard, from now on. (in reference to an earlier blog, I’m being sarcastic)

loganismyhero, please don’t compare the Eagle to the Times Sentinel. Different coverage areas, whole different ball game.
And Goddard hasn’t been getting too much coverage, they have deserved everything they have gotten.

Yeah Joanna, why can’t you cover Goddard sports as regularly as the Times-Sentinel? It’s not like it’s a Goddard newspaper or anything…

Joanna don’t worry you will never be able to please goddard. They are bad winners and worse losers. It shows how special MAIZE really is when goddard obcesses over every little thing. When they beat MAIZE its the greatest because they know they have beaten a top notch team. They watch everything MAIZE does and get on the phone or the computer and complain every time they feel something is said or done wrong or when you give them a little press. they also show their lack of class with their “pluck the eagles” cheer. I still don’t see how that one gets by their administration. Just like tonight at the softball game they cheered when MAIZE lost, but that is ok because it was not because MAIZE lost but because they don’t want to play us at state. So good luck to goddard and keep your eye on MAIZE so you can continue to follow in our footsteps.

The Times Sentinel has lazy writers.

Maizehasclass needs to get over his/herself. Goddard does not need to beat Maize to be successfull. There were Goddard fans at the game tonight rooting FOR Maize as well.

Nancy Marin? What are you doing on this blog? And maybe the Times-Sentinel wouldn’t have lazy writers if they actually did something in the last two years of their high school years on your newspaper staff. haha.

Oh man, you are that guy. I always wondered who that was.
Goddard has the best fanbase in the state. And to answer your blog question, Joanna, EVERYONE (including you) loves Goddard.

of course you would say goddard has the best fan base in the state…any fan of any team would say that..when i went to K-state we all said we were the loudest fans in the big 12, my ku friends said they were, my texas friends said they were, my missouri friends said they were….ect. Thats the easiest thing to claim.
so try again Mr. Marin

Well obviously that guy has no life and does not know what hes talking about. goddard is a breeding ground for outstanding athletes and everyone knows it. pretty sure no one in goddard even cares about maize cause they believe maize is a frickin joke (which they are). Pretty lame they gave up there last district loss to northwest in football just because they would rather get pounded by hutch than go get demolished by goddard to prove that their homecomming was a fluke
