Play this game
May 15, 2008 @ 1:46 p.m. by Joannaby joanna
So if you’re on this web site, you obviously all like competition of some sort. Me, I’m so competitive that I don’t want to compete unless I know I can be at least average or better. I know, it’s a sickness. One I seemed to have passed down to my children two-fold being that my husband is just as competitive (it makes for some interesting checkers and gin rummy, let me tell you).
Anyway, this isn’t competitive, but let me see if I start something if you can finish it.
I ask a question and you give the answer. Then you ask a question and someone else answers.
Playing off the “I wanna know: What annoys you” :
What’s worse: Athletes doing the fist bump with officials before a basketball game or students yelling air ball during a game?
Remember, answer this question, then ask one of your own. I’ll try to stay on top of the spamming. Ugh.

May 15th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Neither are! Its a game, have fun!
May 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Fist bump without a doubt. Seeing grown men fist bump teenagers doesn’t look cool.
May 15th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Read the whole blog, you guys. It’s a game.
OK, I’ll play my own stinking game.
I don’t have a problem with either one, but for the sake of this game, I’ll choose the fist bump.
Now I’ll ask a second question and you answer and ask your own question.
Which is worse? An umpire who obnoxiously calls strikes or one who you can’t even tell when it’s a strike or a ball?
May 16th, 2008 at 7:16 am
One who you can’t even tell when it’s a strike because you atleast get some calls with the first one. What should I buy, a Twix or Skittles?
May 16th, 2008 at 7:28 am
definitely the ones whom you can’t tell. what’s worse is the umps who can’t tell either.
May 16th, 2008 at 8:08 am
Joanna, you have a bunch of idiots responding. Let me try to help you. My answer to your question is: An ump who can’t even tell when it’s a strike or a ball. My question is: What’s worse? A Football player’s TD dance, or a basketball player hanging on the rim after a monster slam?
May 16th, 2008 at 9:06 am
Nobody gets this game, Joanna…. do you? (I added the question at the end because you said “ask your own question”)
May 16th, 2008 at 9:09 am
TD dance is worse, unless your Ocho-Cinco or T.O. Which question was worse? The one Joanna asked or the one billybob asked? I’ll add another question for the fun of it… do you think ‘billybob’ came from Arkansas or Mississippi?
May 16th, 2008 at 9:11 am
hanging on the rim is more annoying. Its always nice to catch sports center and see chad johnson or TO doing something interesting, even though many hate them
my question: what annoys you more:
the two parents of opposing teams going back and forth to one and other with their witty comments about how the game is going without actually looking, but making it clear who they are talking to…..or…..the annoying parent, hell, even coach, who states the unbelievably obvious by saying to their pitcher “come on johnny, throw strikes!” (johnnys thinking to himself….Really coach you want me to throw strikes) or the adult from the crowd saying, “we gotta hit the ball to score runs ladies!” (REALLY awesome adult, you’re meaning to tell me that in order to score, we have to hit the ball?)
which is more annoying?
:)
May 16th, 2008 at 10:15 am
All right, I’m going to answer a couple here.
I prefer the touchdown dance (I didn’t even mind Randy Moss mooning the goal post). I prefer Twix.
As for the last question, which I prefer ‘Throw Strikes’ or ‘We gotta hit…’ I prefer throw strikes. Why? Because the second one sounds more stupid.
Here’s my question — Which is worse: People who don’t play along when they know you’re just trying to be funny or people who are haters?
May 16th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Answer:
The officials fistbump the kids not because they want to be cool, but because they all know that prior to the pre-game speech of the coach every last one of them came out of the bathroom and did NOT wash their hands.
Question:
Would you shake hands with 17 and 18 year olds after they just went pee and didn’t wash their hands?
May 16th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Haters drive me crazy. Where credit is earn credit should be awarded.
Even if you despise the deserving.
Then again im guilty of being a hater, yet Im only guilty of being a hater for responding to someone else hating.
If that makes sense
Its a cycle.
my question: the current post season format or…….. advise a new one?
May 16th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
the current post season format for who and what sport???
May 16th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
my bad…baseball & softball are the only two that i even care about..
I feel that it being possible to have an awesome year and win league negated by a slip in the regional tourny is a bad thing. (for example, Olathe east baseball, andover central baseball, maize softball) I dont know what or how, but i think that the post season play should be expanded a little bit. Kansas is one of few states who only plays maybe 25- 27 games Total. (thats if you win it all) I just feel we could drag things out more..
so having said that…current format or advise a new one
May 16th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
I am from Arkansas, and I just got a computer. Answer to: that guy says: Current format. Even if you play well throughout the season, you’ve got to play well when it counts (ie: World Series, Superbowl - see (NE Patriots) . Too bad for Maize softball, but if they were that good of a team, they should have beaten NW again. Guess not….
Next question: Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew?
May 16th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
billybob– Mountain Dew, without question.
My question: state track meet next week or state baseball?
May 16th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
State baseball.
Which sport is more exciting to watch (which would you rather watch), football or basketball?
May 16th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Glad to see I’m not the only one playing.
I would much rather watch — wow, this is a tough one. But I’ll take football. Nothing better than falling asleep on the couch on a Sunday afternoon to football and then waking up an hour later and football is still on!
OK, my question: Do you prefer texting or calling?
May 18th, 2008 at 1:26 am
Calling. thumb gets too sore texting and they charge extra for it.
My question: Who will win get in a college game first next fall, Arthur Brown or Chris Harper?
May 18th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Nice job Opportunity Knocks. You’re showing your age on the texting though. While I’m with you on the money for texting, any avid texter understands you either have unlimited or pay extra for 1,000.
As for you question, I say Arthur Brown does.
My question: There are five remaining sports this week — soccer, golf (ends on Monday), baseball, softball and track — which event would you absolutely want to go to?
May 18th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Baseball. Maybe softball. Golf isn’t really a spectator sport (especially high school). Track isn’t a down to the wire sport, because the winner can be crowned before all the events are done (and the team with the most qualifiers usually wins). Soccer is good, but some soccer games can be pretty boring. Baseball and softball is where its at. One championship game, two teams, one remains.
Which HS sport is the least popular to watch (which would you rather watch paint dry then go to the game)?
May 19th, 2008 at 8:26 am
billybob, point taken, but its baseball/softball..in the world series they have up to 7 tries to get it done, Baseball is different, are you familiar with the Juco post season set-up? I just like the idea of a series between two teams and winners of those series move on into a DOUBLE ELIMINATION format.
And its not just maize girls that suffered there are plenty of teams both baseball and softball that were victims of this–what i believe is a–faulty system
May 19th, 2008 at 8:39 am
SWIMMING, unless its your kid, who goes to watch swimmin?
billybob–point taken, but world series and super bowl are two completely different formats. Everyone knows that in football you have got to show up that Sunday. The field in baseball is so much more evenly matched that they know that until game 7 there will be a tomorrow.
Softball is similar.
Are you familiar with the juco post season set up in kansas?
3 game series and winners of all series’ go on to a DOUBLE ELIM. tournament.
I like that way.
And it wasnt just maize softball that suffered. There were many other teams that were victims of a system that could be better.
my question–which local 6a baseball qualifier will do the best?
north goddard or maize? (each of whom play an unfamiliar NE Kansas team)
May 19th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
is this game dead? It can be.
I don’t know how to answer this question, especially considering 6A struggled so much last season.
I’m going with Maize. I was going to say Goddard, but I want to see more comments on this game, so if I said Goddard, then I wouldn’t hear anything from those fans. Ha, ha.
My question — better area rivalry: Carroll-Kapaun or Goddard-Maize?
May 21st, 2008 at 8:16 am
assuming that we’re talking about baseball……………..not to take anything away from carroll or kapaun, bu I say maize goddard only because both of those teams could come into the city league and mop the floor with every CL team. so i give the better area rivalry to the better teams.
and im trying my hardest to keep this game alive but i’ve got nothing intriguing to ask…some one clean up after me and keep the game goin
