I'm thinking the 4A boys 800m might be the race to watch. Or maybe I'm just biased since I'm in it. But seriously, the 4A boys 1600m might be the best race in track this year, or maybe the 6A boys 3200m. Both races field the fastest top three or so in the state and have definite chances of going in very fast times. Teamwise, Andover looks strong, but they may not scrape together a title if Mulvane's distance squad runs well against O'Connell in the 1600m/3200m. Good luck to all though.

Thank you for your coverage, it has been great this season!!

I was in Emporia on Friday night and saw some very fast kids, I was very impressed with Emporia, Valley Center and Topkea West. Many of these runners were in multiple races and showed a great "team" spirit. What I mean by that is that they didn't hold back just to run in the race(s) that they as an individual had the greatest chance of winning, they ran in several so their team could get as many points as possible and to advance their relay teams to state. To me that showed great character and great coaching.

The girls who finished 5th and 6th in the 100 and 200 meters dashes in the Topeka Regional will not be going to state. Yet their times are better than the #11-#16 girls who qualified at weaker regionals. It's not fair to these girls who work so hard all year and don't make it to state because their in the toughest regional in Kansas. All times should be considered if you want the "true" top runners at the state track meet.

I had the chance to see Marley Crush run the 1600 & 3200 for Manhattan at said regional. WOW! She is one to watch.

The Eagle's coverage (especially the qualifying list in Sundays paper) of track was amazing. Above and beyond what anyone else is doing. Thank you so much for that.

As for the blog question, the 6A state track meet. Mike Flores from Maize, and the Goddard girls team (14 qualifiers).

OH MY GODDARD!

Emporia and Newton must have strong teams in 5A to beat Carroll and Hutch in their regionals. Porter from Goddard in the LJ with her setting the school record at regional should be good. Also the girls 4x400 in 6A should be fun to watch.
