O.K. so right now the first group of the day is about 20 minutes from finishing up. The group includes Kevin Horn from Wichita-South who shot a +3 (39) on the front nine. There is a lot of discussion amongst everyone at just how high the scores are on both the front and back nine’s. Most of the players are around +6 (45) on the turn either way and  many parents and grandparents in attendance are trying to figure out why. One gentleman told me that this course you have to be dead on and hit the ball straight. Well I guess even though there isn’t a lot of wind its hard for the players to do that.

Overall so far so good for my first state golf tournament. Even though, I did have to get up way to early this morning to make this drive and because its so many parents and grandparents out here the parking lot resembled a mall parking lot on the day after Thanksgiving.

Best Moment Thus Far: A guy stopped me and said you must be that guy from the paper. I responded yes and he went on to have a brief conversation with me. Then he ends the conversation by saying he knew I was with the paper because he remembers seeing me in Dodge City a couple of year’s ago.

And he was so hype about it. I just said is that so and kept on walking.

Fashion Thoughts: I was doing some research and found out that guys used to play golf in suits. Since the game was played then by Lords and peers I can understand why it started off with such stuffy dress rules. However, what I don’t understand is why you can’t wear denim shorts . Khaki shorts are fine, but not denim. Can someone explain this to me?  I remember once me and my friends were turned away from a pizza establishment in Nashville, because we had on jean shorts. If we had on jeans it would have been cool. Khaki pants or shorts we could of sat down and order but jean shorts, Ohhhh no.

P.S. Shout out to the guy with the most hideous shorts I’ve ever seen on a golf course. One half is yellow striped and the other have is plastered with KU logo’s. Nothing against KU, but seriously. He can wear those but there are no jean shorts.
