Soccer represents

Look at this — four area soccer teams in the state soccer semifinals.
In Class 6A, it’s Maize and Goddard. In Class 5A, it’s Andover and Kapaun. Impressive. Truly impressive.
Maize kept its season-long scoreless streak alive by escaping last night with a win over Washburn Rural in a shootout. Goddard beat up on Garden City (8-2), Andover handled McPherson (4-0) and Kapaun truly pummeled Trinity (10-0).
Wow.
Now what’s going to happen? Is the Wichita area finally going to get a girls state title? Kansas City has dominated girls soccer, with the only non-KC area teams winning being Shawnee Heights and Topeka West.
Can this be the year? Can it? Give me your predictions.

6A soccer semifinals exactly the same as last year. Goddard v. Olathe East; Maize v. OP-Blue Valley North. Hopefully it turns out different with Goddard facing off against Maize for the state championship in THE GAME OF THE YEAR.

The Maize/Washburn Rural game was amazing. Very intense, physical, defensive battle that went all the way to a shootout. Washburn Rural gave Maize all they could handle but Maize found a way to win.
A potential Maize/Goddard match-up for the 6A State title would elevate the rivalry to new heights! That would be something a lot of people would want to see.
In 5-1a, I think the Aquinas/Kapaun game has the potential of being one of the best games of the year. Andover vs St. James Academy- Don’t know much about St. James but I do know that the Clifton Sisters from Andover are insanely talented!
Prediction: Maize 1, Goddard 0 (6A)
Prediction: Aquinas 5, Andover 3 (5-1A)

not sure goddard will make it to finals. love to see that though, would promise a wichita area winner obviously..
would love to see aquinas lose, i hate them, but i dont think the twins can do it. they have a solid defense. but we all know that STA finds a way to stack there teams, year in and year out.
