Go to the KSHSAA website (www.kshsaa.org) and in left column at the bottom go to other links, then to Kansas Coaching Assn and click on the softball link. You should be able to find the committee members for each classification in the nomination form link. I think the 3 committee members vote, and maybe the coordinator, for a total of 4. The form says that there will be so many players in each position, but 6A for years has more kids listed on first team than the formula allows. Maybe there are many ties so they include them. Not sure on how the final decisions are made but Coach Hulse at Olathe East would know since he has taken on the role of running the Assn. His email is on the form.

Well Coach, let's put it to the test. There are 32 6-A schools. How many got to vote on the softball all-state, who are they and what schools do they represent?

As a coach, I have the opportunity to nominate some of my players when I believe they warrant consideration for all-state honors. What is unfortunate, is that only a very small committee of coaches gets to vote on the nominees. Those coaches making the selections represent about 10% of the schools. It is not a mere coincidence that players from the school's with coaches on the committee seem to be named "all-state" more frequently than players from other schools.

Nice that you care, now if we could just convince the softball coaches to give a damn and help some of their girls out after the season is over. But since their period ended memorial day, I guess thats not going to happen.
