Yes he did get 500,000 which will probably be broke into two payments which will be taxed. At best, he walks away with 300,000 to work with, or get a good head start on life. That is a good thing. This 100,000 set aside for school is a joke. He can use this money within boundaries. First of all, he will have no time to take a full load of classes between instructional fall ball and spring training. If he doesn't take at least 12 credit hours, he throws away money. That 100,000 is money that he doesn't have set up in his own 'school account'. The Chicago Cubs have it and he has to pay for school and get reinbursed. If he doesn't take a full load he loses, one semester of money which is how they came up with that 100,000. I will be rooting for Mr. Watkins but I wish he would have gone to college and received his education, or at least got close to graduating, and then signed.
