i know for a fact that the kid is making a great choice by taking football off this year. The kid was the kansas pitcher of the year. So im pretty sure that he isnt quitting football for nothing, he is getting recruited by some of the best D1 schools in the country so im pretty sure he knows what he is doing.

Ok, first of all garrett can make his own choice, he is old enough to do it without people who dont even know him making it for him. If he wants to sit out football, then he should be able to without people getting on his back. And i can guarantee you that he isnt chasing something that isnt there

I’m sure he is not going to give up a sport he loves to play baseball. There is another reason behind this. “5th round money at best”, that is pretty good for a high schooler out of Kansas. I would take it. Or get injured and not get drafted.

I would just hope he isn’t giving up football to chase something that isn’t really there, and then he looks back and thinks, “dang, I liked football, wish I had finished out my senior season.”

I have no idea of the kid’s baseball talent.

If the kid wants to just play baseball ,more power to him. “If” this kid wants to focus and train to have a chance to be drafted whats the problem ? someone said oh he needs to play football because his classmates play baseball ? do what ??? Is this a “cult” or High School ? Ya if his buddies want to give to him a little crap ok,etc . What i dont get is how is it “OUR” bussiness do tell this kid what to do ? Am i lost on this ???

Thats why we’re not college coaches hitman. Musil had offers from TCU, Tulsa, Colorado State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville and Missouri he turned down to go to Oklahoma. I guess he blew away more coaches than just OU’s

Better pitchers than him didn’t get drafted that high this year.
U’re only young once, might as well enjoy it, and he might just have to rely on a couple football players to help him win a game in baseball cause he ain’t got no Marasco, Hege or Cocking to hit next season.
Fifth round money at best.

I think he’d gain the opportunity to not be injured playing a sport that is going to get him nowhere out of high school.

So lets see…

a)Play football….possibly get injured and end his baseball career.

b)Or get drafted in the first couple rounds of the mlb draft and get a million-plus signing bonus.
