Updating Corey Lyon
July 8, 2008 @ 1:10 p.m. by Joannaby joanna
Talked with Corey Lyon this morning, the former Independent softball and football coach who is now coaching softball at Paris (Texas) junior college. His first day was July 1st.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I kind of dove in headfirst here and have gotten after it. But I’m really enjoying it. Everybody here at the school, they’ve made me feel very welcome and been very helpful.
I’m kind of trying to finish up a little bit of recruiting, but also getting used to the academic side of it, making sure everyone is enrolled, that their graduation plans are on track.
I really like what I’ve got. I’ve stepped into a pretty good situation. The team was 30-25 last year, and they finished second in their half of the conference here. They lost ins the regional tournament to San Jacinto, which got third in the national tournament, so it’s not a rebuilding situation. I have 10 sophomores coming back from that team. It’s a great opportunity for me to take that next step.”

Coach, well, obviously you don’t care, and that’s fine. This blog will have posts that appeal to a large majority and then there will be posts that only a small number care about. I’m betting there’s some Independent folks out there who check out this blog — that’s just from history of posters. But if you don’t care, no big deal.
So what topic do you want to be talked about? Let me know, either here or at joanna@varsitykansas.com, and maybe I can put a post that will appeal to you. Hey, I aim to please all my readers.

Hey coach, if you don’t care, don’t read. Corey is good people, and it was nice to get an update. I’m sure there are other things you can chose to read, so ignore it and lose the negativity. Joanna is much nicer and better politically than I am… Thanks Joanna.

Just stating fact. No one cares about the independent coach. I don’t mean that to sound as negative as it reads.
