Wednesday thoughts (7-30)

Wow, it’s been good reading on the blog this morning. I’ve laughed at some of you, agreed with others and just shook my head at some. Great stuff, folks.
The bond issue is definitely a subject that will remain on this blog for awhile — if the school board decides to put it to a Nov. 4 vote.
I’m blown away that my Garrett Gould blog started such ridiculous stuff. I mean, come on, people. Such hate out there. I do have to ask myself why I’m surprised by it, though. As one of you stated, it’s happened with the Brown brothers, Independent baseball, etc. (Now the Independent thing, I believe, was more about how the parents acted than necessarily the athletes. I have less of a problem with that.) Good to see some of you are rational and logical folks, though, and have come back to support and try to rein in this crap. I’m definitely keeping a close eye on it.
And now I come to what really had me shaking my head this morning. Once again, an innocuous post by myself, merely a conversation starter, nothing hateful about it, seems to have raised some emotions in a few posters. It’s the “Should high school athletes specialize.”
Mark Griggs got it started with his response (Mark, you have to admit, that when your name gets mentioned, it gets the commenters out in full force. I really believe, from my history on the blog, that if I put your name in the title, I’d get a ton of hits. The only other people I could do that with is Bryce and Arthur Brown. I’m not sure why that is.) It’s turned into several interesting debates, including how many innings should a softball pitcher throw and (paraphrasing here) comparing summer and high school coaches.
Very interesting day, folks. Sometimes I have to go trolling for topics for the blog. Not today. Ya’ll hooked me up.
By the way, I’ve only done a couple “Where are they now” posts — Craig Ratanamorn and Cortland Carney — but I’d be happy to do them. Pass along someone you find interesting or might interest others and if you have a number for them, that would be great.

Joanna:
Surely you’re not suggesting that some folks opinions are crap? LOL . You have found what many of us have known for years, that the Mustangs owner (I will not speak or type his name) is a lightening rod for emotional debate. He brings it upon himself. There are times when one should just keep their mouth closed and not be so offensive to others. He has not figured that out yet. One result is that you get interesting blog material. Congrads.

The MAYB National tournament starts thursday evening at various sites in and around Wichita. How about starting a blog about some of the favored teams in the tourney. Hopefully the city will rally behind all the Wichita teams this weekend. One pretty good game friday morning at 10am will feature the hometown Wichita T-Wolves against a really good Wisconsin team. This game will be played in Koch arena. The Wichita Bulls and some of the Mo-Kan kids are also in this tournament.
