Presto was the sponsor for today’s NBC World Series action. Perhaps a belt company might have been more appropriate because the first two contests were whoopin’s.

The 8 a.m. game saw the hometown Wichita Sluggers 18u lose to the West Texas Outlaws 11-1. That was followed by Game Time Louisiana’s Rockies putting the Park City Cowboys on to game 12-2.

Both games were called early due the the mercy rule (10 runs after five innings).

It just wasn’t a good day for the Sluggers in any aspect of the game. The pitchers gave up seven walks, and when they did put the ball over the plate the Outlaws were taking advantage. Nine out of the 10 West Texas players who made a plate appearance got at least one hit. The defense wasn’t much help either tallying four errors in the game. This was the Sluggers second loss so they are eliminated from the tournament.

The Cowboys took an early 2-1 lead over the Rockies however, Game Time was just getting started. The Rockies scored in every inning including putting up a six-spot in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. The top six hitters in the Rockies line-up accounted for 10 of the 11 RBIs.
