There’s a pretty big game in the Titan Classic final with Kapaun and Southeast, two of the City League’s top teams. Does it get any better than that?

Who are you picking?

It’s going to be a messy field, it could be raining, but these are soccer players. They’re tough!

Thanks for mentioning it Joanna and I hope you enjoyed your trip to State Line. Hutch got homered, probably, maybe, I don’t know.

I’m writing this as a stronger down poor has moved into the area so the prospects of them playing soccer at the Titan is in question I would think. With a wet field I would give the edge to KMC who possessess the ball a bit more than SE and in addition some of SE’s speed will be negated by the conditions. I must admit I was wrong picking NW over SE due to Knoll sitting out and some injuries to other players so perhaps picking against them here isn’t wise either. The Doctor says KMC 4-3 in PKs.

The wet field might affect the game a lot, but i still dont see any reason why southeast doesnt handle kapaun pretty easy. I believe with Knoll and Remmich up top and Sayboukan in the back, theres no way Kapaun can come away with the W.

lol so i was kind of right. Knoll and Remmich Dominated Kapauns defense all 80 min long. They had no answer for them. Well deserved win for Southeast. (By the way i dont go to Southeast.) lol NW jv player

Well, I picked Liberal, and then after injuries and Knoll red card I picked NW, then thinking the sloppy conditions would give the edge to Kapaun I picked KMC. SE proved me to be an idiot. My wife will be surprised……. not.

Southeast and Kapaun are a bunch of cocky, showboating, celebrate-loving bunch of soccer players….. AND I LOVE IT. When Polo scored that goal and pulled a Taylor Knoll celebration (look on catchitkansas.com for the celebration), I knew the game was over. Don’t tickle the dragons nose and expect to escape unharmed… Knoll was furious after he saw that and came back to assist on a goal a few minutes later. When he scored the 3rd and last goal for Southeast, he made sure the Kapaun fans (and Polo) knew how to correctly celebrate. Soccer is the only sport where you can see this kind of drama in high school sports. I recommend soccer fans to catch a Southeast game (probably against Liberal, Maize, or Kapaun later on this season) and take in the atmosphere; it’s intense.

Also, what happened to Maize? Losing 5-1 to Dodge City? Seriously?

CLFAN you are spot on, I was there and when I saw Guzman mock the SE crowd with his own Buffaloe Horns celebration, I knew we were in for a match. You could see Knoll was just waiting to give it back. Intense and physical match, but afterwards all the players shook hands and even a few hugs were exchanged. Some great players on both sides and KMC plays so organized its fun to watch. I’d like to see SE again on a dry pitch, perhaps one of the matches you suggested would be best. I picked against SE in all three of their matches and suggested North would be CL team to watch this year………..where’s the Uno or Connect Four blog, because I’m dismal at this soccer stuff.
