Corey Lyon getting softball commits from the area
Oct. 2, 2008 @ 12:21 p.m. by Joannaby joanna
Former Independent football and softball coach Corey Lyon — now the softball coach at Paris (Texas) Junior college — has gotten oral commitments from three 2008 All-Metro players — Maize’s Jessica Viramontez, Augusta’s Kayla Sears and Independent’s Cheyenne Stewart. Independent’s MattieMae Milligan also has committed.
Not bad. I talked to Corey a week or so ago and he said his team had come up here and beaten Cowley College and WSU. Not bad, at all.
(on a side note — anyone have an over-under as to how long it will take for this nice little post of mine to completely disintegrate into rants about Independent and Mark Griggs? Just kidding. Just joking. Pretty funny, though.)

Have any of these gals actually visited Paris, TX.? Not a place I would want to send my daughter regardless of the coach.

WE are not sending girls anywhere. Unless one of the girls in question is your daughter. This is a decision between the parents and their daughter and what is best for them. Remember none of these girls are going to make a living playing softball. It’s all about the education and the life experiences. Good luck to all of them.

Congrats to the young women and to Corey as well. Corey is a great coach and I hope he ends up at a big D-1 within a few years.

SEC FAN, which one of these girls signed with Arizona? The odds are extremely long that a college baseball player will ever make his living at baseball. I would not even be able to guess what the odds are for a college softball player but since you were able to name ONE. I would put the odds on par with winning the lottery.
Good Luck
