Two unbeatens go down in the City League
Oct. 3, 2008 @ 10:40 p.m. by Joannaby joanna
Just a quick post because the East-Carroll game was sooooo looooong. Carroll wins 49-13.
But two unbeatens in the City League lost tonight — Northwest beat Southeast 17-14 and, obviously, East lost to Carroll.
Where were you tonight?
I’ll have a recap after I’m done with writing and collecting scores.

Again coach Schuckman has the answer for East High and Bryce Brown and every other team BC will play. The only reason for the loss to heights was that it was the first game the Big three which are Blake Bell, Nick Johansen, and Joe Brown had played together. I believe it is going to be very tough for anyone to beat the big three the rest of the year. Yes Bell is the best QB ever to play in the city league and will probably throw for 3,000 yards, but his biggest asset is his team first attitude. If you have not yet watched the Big three and BC play yet, it is a sight! Coach Schuckman has this team playing basketball on a football field. There has never been a more explosive offence in the City League. This team will not lose another game all year and it has a lot to do with the fact that coach Schuckman is not afraid to open the game up and dear teams to try and shut them down. For any team to beat BC they will have to score 50 points and that is not going to happen in the state of Kansas not even with an all-star team. Yes I said it coach Schuckman may be the most progressive coached in the state of Kansas. See everyone at the finals.

I was at the Derby-Maize game tonight and early on it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Panthers but coach Clark got the kids woken up in the 2nd quarter and got most of the bugs worked out in the locker room at half-time. Jake Snodgrass still wasn’t his normal self tonight for most of the game and Maize had an answer for Aaron Wilson. But Derby poured it on and still managed to win handily 41 to 21.

Raider Fan dont count hutch out. Blake Bell is great but hutch plays a tuff schedule and has a better defence then most teams you play and hutch and carroll our on a collision course to meet each other Also remember hutch has played a lot of big games the last 6 years. But i am impressed with carroll but its still a long season.

sptsfan, good point after having spoke to some of the coaches at BC they do seem like Hutch has the Vulcan mind lock on them. That being said I just don’t think that there are that many athletes to go around in Kansas and i would be very surprised if between now and the Hutch game the BC coaching staff don’t seek counseling or a meeting with the priest to set them free from the Hutch mind lock.

SORRY RAIDER FAN… BC IS NOT THAT MUCH BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE… THE FACT THAT HEIGHTS HAPPENED TO BE THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON HAD NO BEARING ON IT…
FLIP THE COIN, IT WAS HEIGHTS FIRST GAME ALSO !!!
HAVING COACHED FB IN WICHITA FOR BETTER THAN EIGHT YEARS, I WILL HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU ON YOUR POINT
CONCERNING THERE NOT BEING ENOUGH “ATHLETES TO GO
AROUND” AS MANY OF OUR BEST ARE WINDING UP IN OTHER
STATES, OTHER COLLEGES, ETC… I RECEIVE PHONE CALLS FROM
FORMER PLAYERS TO THIS DAY… THE SAD PART IS THAT IT HAS BECOME SO BIG THAT YOU WILL NOW EVEN SEE HIGH SCHOOL COACHES & ABOVE SPORTING THEIR FULL TEAM COLORS OUT TO
A CHILDS YOUTH LEAGUE GAME… TELL ME THAT IS NOT SAD…
THE ONLY OTHER THING IN OUR HS FOOTBALL PROGRAM, IS THE ENTIRE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF… AS SEASON RECORDS DO NOT COUNT, AND THE ONLY THING THAT MATTER IS WHAT HAPPENS IN THAT SPAN OF THREE GAMES… I”M NOT SPEAKING OF JUST BC OR HEIGHTS, BUT OF ALL THE TEAMS THAT GO OUT AND BUST THEIR
HIND QUARTERS ALL SEASON LONG, HAVE THEIR DIVISIONAL OR SECTIONAL ( WHATEVER THEY CALL IT NOW ) STACKED AND MISS OUT BECAUSE OF THOSE THREE GAMES… FOOTBALL AT ANY LEVEL IS MEASURED ON YOUR SEASONS BODY OF WORK…
NON-THE-LESS… IT’S IN THE RECORD BOOKS FOR THIS YEAR, AND AS MOST SEASONS HAVE GONE IN THE RECENT PAST, I WOULD IMAGINE NEXT YEAR WOULD BE BC’S YEAR TO WIN… AS THE TWO SEEM TO SWAP BLOWS EVERY OTHER YEAR FOR THE CITY LEAGUE TITLE… (OR DARN NEAR CLOSE TO IT…)

Raiderfan EASY! I will of course give BC and Shuckman all the “props” they deserve but last i checked they have not won ANY State titles just yet. Oh and a “allstar” team would destroy that team if it was well coached. I believe BC can beat Hutch this year but you are a little far out there my man.

Obviously unless there is a huge upset, Carroll not gonna win the City League this year. But Bell is one unreal high school quarterback!
And they look good. Having not seen Heights yet this year it makes me wonder how good they must really be.

Carroll should have beaten Heights in my opinion. i believe they would have if Joe Brown had played. He was still hurt and did not play as Raider fan suggested. I think Carroll will win the city league but I predict they will lose to Hutch in playoffs!!

If BC wins out, which they should they should be 8-1 and the #1 seed in the playoffs, unless Newton manages to win their district and wins the rest of their games, which seems fairly likely as weak as their schedule is. Kapaun is the only team that might beat them.
If Newton and BC are both 8-1, again, I wonder how the tiebreaker works as to who gets the #1 seed. Hutch should be 7-2 and the #3 seed if both Newton and BC go 8-1, and I hope that Hutch and BC are on opposite sides of the west bracket, as it would be fitting for the two teams to meet in the semi-finals. That’s not to count out McPherson, who’ll be a very tough ball-game for anyone in the playoffs, and the last two years, Central has played well in the playoffs, but I would just assume that Hutch and BC will face each other at some point, and I hope it’s the semi’s.

TFL are you kidding Hutch a #3 seed? Hutch will be the number #1 seed if they can beat MacPherson. Derby beating Hutch was like poking the injured Lion or in this case SaltHawk. See what they did against a decent S Central team? At Salina? Goddard fan was right maybe they should just phone it in and save the district and fans gas money. BC won’t be tested in their district at all. The cheerleaders could win a couple of their district games. So they will look all high and might (don’t get me wrong they are a very good team) but Hutch will be fire tested after playing Derby and MacPherson. BC lost to Heights and beat an overrated East team.
Derby better not be looking past Salina South this week or it could bite them. Plus they better not spot S SOuth 14 like last week against Maize. Thank Goodness we have High School football cause the Cheifs stink and the smell starts heavy at the top of that organization.

Where is that Rosehill Backer and his big mouth this week? lol just having fun backer.
Did you guys leave those former JV players at home that had been beating Andale the last couple of yrs??? I told you last week everyone has a 8th grade highlight even Rosehill. But if you wanna play with the big boys you gotta work like the BIG BOYS!!!
I have to admit though BACKER it was a pretty good game
(with your kickers kicking 50+ field goals in Pregame Warmup)
until the opening kickoff then it went downhill from there.
