Did you check out any volleyball tonight? I went to see Marion, Halstead and Hillsboro at Collegiate. They were in two gyms, so I saw the ones involving Collegiate — all tight matches. Collegiate went 3-0, beating a tough Hillsboro team. As Collegiate coach Donnie Wallace pointed out, it was a non-league game, though.

Collegiate has several nice hitters, specifically Sadie Clark and Ashia Woods. Hillsboro’s Dakota Kaufman is a stud. She had 13 kills against Collegiate.

Here are some of the random thoughts that went through my mind in the oh-so-long night.

I love it when football players come to volleyball matches after practice. The gym goes from this deadly quiet place with only parents in it, to an exciting atmosphere. Yes, the football players can get a little nuts, and they can be a little annoying. But I’ll take that any day over the dead-like atmosphere without them.

My husband tends to lament that we didn’t buy Under Armour stock when it first came out — that usually comes up when we see Under Armour, oh, I don’t know, everywhere. Well, I don’t pay too much attention to that, but I did see Under Armour knee pads for the first time. Yeah, we should have gotten in on that.

So where were you? What other matches were exciting — or boring? Do tell.
