OMG: North beats Southeast 42-41 in double OT

I just saw this score on my e-mail. What the heck is this about? North was winless, Southeast was 4-1 with its only loss to Northwest. I’m stunned by this. My nice side says I’m happy that no CL team will have a winless season. My not-so-nice side, says how did Southeast lose this game?
Any answers out there? I guess I’ll wait to see the story in the paper in the morning.

I was at the game to the end and North wanted this badly. Their line dominated, their quarterback ran the option run nicely and southeast looked like they didn’t want to play the thursday game. The final play of the game was exactly like the heights game from last year where southeast fakes the extra point and goes for a throw but fails. Guzman needs to get rid of that play. Everyone in the stadium knew SE was going for the win because they can’t kick. My hats go off to North, they really wanted this game.

North’s athletes played with a lot of heart. They really earned this win and it might not be their last. There were some fantastic plays made by several individuals in the OT including a catch of a tipped pass and a tiptoe on the endline on another.

OMG! North beats Southeast! What kind of crap is this? Could we word this a little better for encouragement…………First of all, everyone has bad and good games. This is one of the bad games SE has….BTW, HAVE YA SEEN THE GAME FOR USC (#1) LOSS TO OREGON STATE and this is college football. Yes, SE always call the same play….North play a good game.

Hold up, Big Kansas, are you telling me you weren’t surprised by this? Does that mean that I hate North because I was surprised? Uh, no.
Seriously, North was getting handled by teams in four of its five losses, Southeast has been considered one of the better teams in the City League, and North wins this game?
So you expected this?
As for giving encouragement — Do you think that’s what I do in my job? Give encouragement to kids? I write about games. The only kids I give encouragement to is my own kids.
Is OMG really that horrible? Really?
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe OMG means that I’m completely ripping North. Maybe that’s how it comes across. If so, I apologize completely. It’s nearly midnight, maybe I’m crazy. Sorry for offending you, dude.
But find me a person who wasn’t surprised by that victory. I was stunned.

Joanna I have to go with you on this one. This was truly a suprise, an upset, a big win for the “Skins”.
For the first quarter and a half, Coach Beason and his North squad, pulled out all the stops. After North marched the ball down to score the first points of the game, they compounded the momentum by electing to go for an onside kick. Of course nobody in the stadium expected that, for sure not the blockers on the front line of the buff’s kick-off team! North recovered and scored again, to go up 13-0.
I recall walking down the sideline after the second score, and a North player said, “We are going to win tonight!.” I looked him in the eye and he meant it. Congratulations to the North coaches, players, fans, and student body.
But as good as this win was for North, this loss was GREAT for Southeast.
OK, OK…. I know you are sitting there thinking to yourself, this guy is on crack. Hear me out.
Last time i checked this is week 6. The final, as far as i am concerned, pre-season game. Next week all slates are wiped clean, everybody has no wins and no losses.
Now to my point about this being a GREAT loss for SE. This loss should humble the Buff’s, make them realize they can be beat on any given Thursday. I know coach Guzman too well, he is a veteran coach (I played against him), he will use this game to motivate his team and the team will be much better moving forward after this loss.
So this is good timing for both squads. North now has confidence heading into district play, if they win two of the next three they are in the playoffs. And we all know Southeast has a good enough team to make it to playoffs, especially now that they have been humbled!!!

Suggests to me that North is likely good enough to go to the playoffs, considering its district, and Southeast is likely not good enough, considering its district. I too was completely wrong about this game.

The nice thing about this win is that if North does qualify for state from their district and SE doesn’t, SE won’t be able to complain about the hard district they were in and the easy one North was in, because North beat them. However, the other team that gets left out, Derby, East or Heights might complain a little.

It was a surprise but let me say this the talent at north is as good as the other schools. If you watch them warm up you realize they have talent but for some reason are not puting it together until last night

Congratulations North–you played a great game, have lots of talent, and your coach out-coached Southeasts coach by far! How about the snap for the last few weeks? Think you might need to work on that? How about looking for some new plays that don’t involve #6? Could you as a coach run anymore predictable plays? Wake up coach –get objective and really look at the film!

Reality-you really get annoyed when reading stuff on here? Man I wish my life was as stress free as yours so I could get annoyed at such small things. I’d hate to be around you when something went really bad in your life. You should thank the Lord that that is all you have in your life to get annoyed at. I believe what is really annoying is people who think they have the right or responsibility to correct others. My guess is it just makes them feel superior!!
