Dude (KSsoccerfan), are you like Austin Walls BFF? I don’t think he’s running for president, but if he was you’d make a great campaign manger! By the way, the word To used in your earlier post should be Too. Thought you might need that for future reference.

I think derby will dominate… quite frankly they dominated us and mac in the same week… i give them props they are a hard working team with alot of heart. Their defense is now really anchored by ty drake, while their middle is covered by a brute of a man jared keintz and all metro austin steadman. The forwards bring the fire to the goalie; Christian, Marcos, Kris, and The German Gladiator. The flanks are covered by two amazing players known as Craig and Larkin. If for some reason they get by Nathan All Metro Garrison will be there for the save. That is how derby is dominating!

I agree, jjflash2b. Seriously, Austin Walls, Austin Walls, Austin Walls, You’d think he’s the only player in town according to KSsoccerfan. Derby’s Austin Steadman is an excellent Forward/Midfielder Captain and will pass to his teammates no matter who they are or if they are an underclassman just so the TEAM can score to win, unlike what happened last year which led to Derby’s demise late in the season. We have an excellent team, Steadman, Kientz, Taylor (both of them), Whalen, Garcia, Feikert, Drake, Garrison, Jones, Sammons, Gilmore, Gough, Dugan, even Hoffmann the German exchange student is very strong. Give Derby props, they don’t need another player to make them better.

Wow, maizefan24/7! Are you sure you’re a Maize fan naming each player and position for Derby? Or are you a Derby fan in disguise?Got to give you props for being so generous with the compliments for a good Derby soccer team, but not that good. Derby loses 3 to 2 to Salina Central in OT tonight!

Sorry Socrfn2! You probably don’t agree with me now about my forementioned post on Derby losing to Salina Central tonight in OT. Just a prediction. It’s all about matchups and although Derby has some great players in all positions I just don’t think they’ll matchup very well to Salina Central. Could be wrong! Good-luck! I’m sure it will be a great game!!!

That’s okay, jjflash2b, I have faith in our team and think they will pull it out in the end although I agree it will probably end up in OT and quite the nail biter, thanks for the props though!

Sorry jjflash2b but i have nothing to say about maize… we have done great but derby looks like the team to be this year, tonight will be a great game not going to lie but im looking forward to seeing the offense go out there and shut it out early. Central has a strong team but Derby is there for the win!

Hey Derby fans, one last thing I should say as not to hurt anyone’s feelings about your team is that you are a good team. Your defense and goalie stepped up big against Maize. Steadman up front, definitely needs to be accounted for, both on and off the ball. He’s a great player and when he’s not scoring he’s giving up the assist. On the same token, Jack Shoupe Fwd/Md for Salina is a heck of a player too, both on and off the ball and as well should be accounted for by the Derby defense. Good-luck and may the best team win!

Too true. I knew this was going to be a great game, I think I called it “scrappy” and a “nail biter” in earlier posts and the team did not disappoint. Unfortunately Salina Central caught the lucky break tonight. It was a good game Panthers, keep your heads up, the season isn’t over yet then you can get ready for Regionals & State, your fans have faith in you!

IMTOOGOOD- you are truly an idiot. Austin Walls would have made absolutely NO difference tonight. This was a defensive battle for certain, Derby defense shut down Jack Shoop (good going, Daniel Gough!) and their defense shut down Austin Steadman unfortunately for Derby. Austin Walls would never be the stud at Derby that he is in Rose Hill, why do you think he plays there?

I personally think that austin walls could really help us out. all derby is lacking is one more scoring threat up top and they could be dominating everyone.

Im not going to lie if derby had walls and jarchow playing in center with kients and taylor on the outside they would be unstoppable and easily win the state championship this year. Steadman would also have 10 more goals than he does now.

Not to say I told you so, but even though Jack Shoup for Central didn’t get the OT goal, he found Knox up the field to put it away. Just like Steadman for Derby, Shoup finds a way to deliver and must always be accounted for. Congratulations Central on the win and don’t hang your heads Derby. Sounds like it was a great game to watch.

quit talking about Austin Walls on all these blogs. I am sure he does not appreciate all of this trash talk. Austin is a team player. Austin plays on a GREAT team surrounded by a WHOLE lot of talent. Soccer is a TEAM sport and one guy does not make a difference. Thus, if Austin was at Derby still he would not have made a difference. Again, Soccer is a TEAM sport.

^ Austin Steadman
We played a hell of a game, and had our fair share of scoring oppertunities, unfourtinately for us, the ball just wasnt bouncing our way in the final third. Thanks for all the recognition so far in this post, but honestly i dont think having Jarchow and Walls would effect us that much.
We are such a solid team this year because we play team defence, our mids understand that getting back is just as importaint as getting forward and our defenders will stick out on anyone. Bryce Jones and Daniel Gough played amazing to shut down Jack Shoup and Central’s defence did good against Christian Gilmore, Marcos Garcia and myself.
Jared Keintz and Craig Knox has quite a battle in the mid field, unfourtinately they had their lucky break and beat us in OT.
But still we cannot get down about this, we are 11-3. Our losses have came 1-0 against Kapaun, 3-2 (2 OTs and PKs) against Northwest and now 1-0 in OT against Salina Central. A massive turn around from what we did last year.
Hopefully we can keep our heads up and keep rolling on into state. (Praying for Maize beating Southeast)

I am not talking about Austin Walls as much as your Rose Hill Fans are, I am just saying he is NOT the only good player in this area, everyone is just tired of others saying if Derby had Austin Walls on the team he would be better and would be winning more, this is 6A the competition is way more intense!
Yeah, whatever, Austin Steadman is really cocky, he SHARES the ball with everyone on the field that is why he has 13 GOALS and 9 ASSISTS, that is NOT COCKY, that is just stating a fact! You guys quit trashing Steadman, he IS a consistent player for Derby! The only games he hasn’t scored in (assists or goals) are the two 0-1 losses to Kapaun and 0-1 to Salina Central in overtime.

I didn’t say Steadman was the only reason Derby is successful this year, I have watched Derby soccer for 12 years and this by far is the best TEAM play I have seen in those 12 years and that is why they are so successful as a whole. They don’t point fingers, they don’t play the blame game and break down constantly, they all maintain their composure pretty well and should be proud of themselves for the great competitive games they have been involved in. I say we stop talking about any ONE player in particular and talk about the TEAM as a whole. I’m sorry, I have to defend any Derby individual players when I feel like they are being personally attacked. A lot of the blogs out here are absolutely crazy sometimes.

First off I want to take my hat off to the Rose Hill soccer team. Way to climb up from the pits and make a name for yourself. Honestly I wish Mr. Walls never made the transition there, but life happens and obviously we have been doing something right with the core players we have right now. We could all play the “what if game” all we like but it makes no sense to dwell on it. Heck I am one of the biggest Kansas City Chiefs fans you will ever meet and I know how the “what if” game goes. Whats done is done, build a bridge and get over it.
Next, I am going to defend Austin Steadman. The kid has lit up opposing teams with his TEAM skills. I can’t think of many other people that are as TEAM oriented as he is this year. IF you think that you know him from past seasons, you haven’t wittnessed much yet.
Now for the game… Both teams that took the field thursday night had a lot going for them. We finally played a team that took that glory from us, life happens. I am not worried about it much because our team battled, and at times were inches away from victory. No matter the opponent we always seem to be in it no matter how much talent the other team has. Thats why I am so excited for the postseason… I know whoever we play, it will be a good game. Hopefully with a little luck and consistency in intensity our team will be wearing rings and seasons end.

Funny thing is, we won’t ever really know which team is better. The two won’t ever really play eachother so it doesn’t matter. Both teams are very, very good. But this is Kansas High School soccer…not a huge deal. Lets talk about something that matters to more than just a few fairies, and soccer moms. High School Football is back in Derby. Its bringing this town together, and you are tearing it apart.

Weird, Rose Hill had half there JV playing in that game along with a guy who didn’t even play soccer?
One player can help out a team. Sometimes all you need is that extra scoring threat. Or that extra defender. The Derby coach has got to hate himself for letting a talent like Austin Walls get away. He could have easily been the difference maker. Just like they shouldn’t have ever kicked Alex J. off the team. You can’t say Walls wouldn’t have helped out that team. You can’t say he wouldn’t have been just as dominate at Derby. The coach was just to dumb to give him the chance…

Wow, We Beat Hutch, that was pretty mean, thanks for apologizing though. Derby Football gets enough recognition in this town so let us praise our soccer team for doing so well, okay? We don’t get our game tapes played during lunch at the high school like you guys do. I have to say the students at Derby should be proud of how well all their teams are doing - cross country, volleyball and golf included along with soccer and football. You guys have some great athletes at the high school.
