A look at the games for Week 6

Who wants to make predictions?
I’ve definitely improved since my Week 1 debacle, but there’s some tough picks out there, so tell me what you think.
I’m going with Heights over South. I’m so going out on a limb here, huh?
I like Carroll over Kapaun, too. Another tough prediction, huh?
Derby over Salina South, now that’s a little tougher. Salina South has homefield advantage and is 4-1, but I think Derby’s too tough and will win this one. In a close game.
Andover beats Pittsburg, but I think this game will be close.
Wichita Trinity has had some pretty good seasons so far by Morgan Burns and Toby Kriwiel as it has gone to 3-2, but Garden Plain will roll in this game. Garden Plain won’t be tested until Conway Springs.
I’m doing this prediction thing on the fly because our internet company continues to push back the date for giving us service. It’s killing me.
So I’m sure I’m missing some games, but I know you guys will hook me up and fill in for me.
What’s out there? Who did I miss? Give me your predictions? What game will you be at? Who will have a breakout game this week? Who’s ready for district play?

Derby has worked hard all season to make this game worth while! They have everything to lose and everything to gain! I say derby pulls out with the win, but not without a fight! It should be a great game!

Derby vs. Salina South shouldn’t even be close. Derby has been waiting for another league championship for a long time and there time has come. This game should be a blowout.

Having been equally trounced by Derby and both Salina teams, I would say we were more thoroughly dominated in every aspect of the game by Salina South than by Derby. Derby killed us with several long passes and some poorly timed turnovers on our part, but we got a number of TFLs against them, and almost none against SS. Should be a good game just like Derby and Salina Central was.

Salina South may have trounced you in every single aspect of the game but Derby has the ability to make a big plays when they need them. There defense always steps up when put up to the test and Snodgrass can throw a bomb to T-Bone at any moment to change the game. Tonights game will not be a blowout but Derby should come out on top by at least a touchdown or two.

FFF is at Newton tonight. Newton vs. Pratt. Pratt is a bunch of tough kids flying around, but I think Newton is just too much for them.

Arrogance? Derby has backed up all their claims, Vonnerich. Look what they did to Maize last week once they got the ball rolling. Shouldn’t be any problem doing the same to SS.

Derby and Andover have pretty good matchups , but for the most part this week is a pretty weak , week for games. DERBY WINS AND ANDOVER WINS.

I know Derby has been horrible over the last several years so your excitement this year is somewhat understandable. You haven’t been able to be proud of your team for years.
Just throttle it down a little. You have only played 5 games so far and you still have many games left to play.
While Derby’s close win over Hutch was impressive, Derby has not played against another team with a winning record (Hutch 3-2). The combined record of your other opponents is 5-15. One of those opponents is Salina Central who Derby beat 28-27 and is 2-3 on the season.
I see Heights on your schedule in district play. East may also give you a run for your money. There is a decent chance you may not even make it out of your district. Enjoy your success while it lasts but don’t celebrate too much too early.

you obviously dont know the tradition of derby football
they’ve only had a hand full of bad yrs
heights is overrated..east is beatable…and SE lost to north
its a very winnable district
they just have to stay focused
although i do think the heights derby game will be one to remember

One could just as easily interchange Heights with Derby with respect to district play. It is a tough district and there will be two very disappointed teams. I personally feel that Derby is overrated, but time will tell. May the best two teams from the district advance.

but im sorry i cant agree with the derby is overrated thing
they beat hutch a couple weeks ago
and some people..(not saying you)..think its no big deal and that derby got lucky..its kind of sad
but i think both derby and heights will go deep into the post season

Derby did get lucky at Hutch. Bad call side judge remember. Don’t expect a blowout at salina south is all I am saying. Arrogance could you get you in big trouble against Salina South.

Please someone beat Derby! I have never seen so much arrogance from one town. You would think they were 5 time state champions like Hutch. Derby you have won one state title in football. Just a couple years ago you guys lost to wichita SOUTH. Clark is doing a great job but you derby posters make it tough to root you. It it too bad because alot of people were happy that Derby mattered again in football but guys like lou make us wish you were 0-5.

I tell you that coach clark is good!! What ever adjustments he made at 1/2 time were just what his team needed. I have to say, regardless of the cockiness of the derby posters, coach clark can take them a long way and you have like the way they compete. Big props to Derby tonight.

wow im really sick of people calling me out and saying im arrogant..just because of what i think…thats crazy
and it needs to stop
derby has been a power ever since it was established…with the exception of the last couple years
everybody hates derby just cause they where good in the past
and i dont get that at all??? does’nt make any since
so once again i dont know how im being arrogant for rooting for my team

We have a tough district, theres no question. Heights has proven to be a competitive team that could go far this season. However, Derby has gone against tough teams and through the low expectations and doubters went home with the W’s. These men don’t give up, they showed that against ss in the biggest comeback i have ever seen in real life. It will definetly be a hard fought district.

Lou, I am aware of Derby’s history and I am also aware of its demise. Pro style type offense converted to the single & double wing did not work out that well. It is good to see they are having some success again but it has been awhile. Last week’s comeback win was impressive. I am not sure what enabled the comeback because it sounds like a complete collapse by Salina South. It does take a good team to come back and keep fighting so I will give you that. Take it easy on the declarations… Derby is ONE of the hottest teams in the state. I would not go so far as saying that DERBY is THE hottest team it is still too early. Good luck in districts.
