Today’s girls tourneys (1-29)

I’m about ready to head up to Newton to see what I believe is the best first-round tournament game — Salina South vs. Andover Central. I haven’t seen the Jaguars yet this season, so I’m looking forward to that. I have seen Salina South and was very impressed with Adrianna Franch. She’s such a tough inside player and she gets to the free-throw line — where she capitalizes.
Bishop Carroll opens play here in about two hours at the Kapaun Mount Carmel tournament, and Don Racine will likely win his 500th game today. What an accomplishment. As I’ve said before, Racine’s one of my favorites – a little scary sometimes, but I know he’s just a big teddy bear. Not that he would ever admit that.
McPherson starts up today, as well. I wonder about that Goddard-Andale game. Goddard is definitely depleted with injuries, including losing Samantha Soyez for the season. While Lindsey Keller is one of the state’s best and certainly much taller than any Andale player, I’m not sure if it will be enough. Should be a close game.
So where will you be? What game are you keeping your eye on?
