That’s what Jonathan Long tells us in his story that ran in today’s paper, that Bryce Brown, who made an oral commitment to Miami, is weighing his options.

So what do you think about this? I personally don’t care when someone signs. Just be happy wherever you are going.

  • FBallfn

Why would anyone have a problem with this ? Miami was in the loop from the begining and even if they were not it would still be ok due to the fact that they fired the OC. Feb,March,April take your time Bryce and be sure thats where you want to spent the next 3 years.

  • 3BlindCrippledSeniorCitizens

I would tell you what i think but it will cost you $9.99 a month or $60 bucks a year.

  • terrapins

Well. I understand the idea of the OC but i feel it can be unfair to the rest of the coaching staff and other RBs that might be interested in the school. I would almost put a deadline on for him. Come on there are a handful of other players out there. I agree in picking the best school for Bryce but some schools might not like being held up in their recruiting.

  • WC

If a school isn’t willing to wait on the number one recruit in the nation I doubt he would want to go there anyway

  • PG & FAMILY

Bryce will do what is best for Bryce, and I do agree with WC’s comment.

This will affect the rest of his life and career, why rush into signing with a college or university.

Remember, Bryce is only 17 years old, making very adult life changing choices.

We are behind you Bryce….pam…and the rest of the Gillespie’s….

  • FBallfn

3BCSC if anyone cared what you thought you could !

  • Really??!!

I have solution! How about not committing to a program if you’re not sure you will go there. I would be greatly upset if a player commits and still “weighs” his options. I completely agree with terrapins, what bryce is doing is wrong. He may be a nice kid, but come on, stick to your commitment.

He may be 17 and making a life changing decision, but he never should have committed. He should shop all of his options first and then “decide” where he wants to go to school.

  • Dumazxposer

Miami should give him a fancy car..that would close the deal!

  • FBallfn

“Really” i can tell you have no idea how big time football works and all that goes into being a top recruit. “soft verbal” is not a contract or even close. I wont waste any more on trying to educate you.

  • Ghannah

Dumazxposer is out of his mind; we don’t break the rules at Miami to get any player. We think Bryce is a great kid and a fantastic football player but we will not break the rules to get him and I do not think he would want to play for someone who would. We would like first for Bryce to be happy with his decision; hopefully it will be with Miami.

  • Matt

I have no problem with Bryce doing this but I think this is more for Brian Butler than anything. Brian Butler controls these players on what they say to the media and what they say to the colleges. He acts like he knows everything which he doesn’t. The two things he has going for him, are going to be in Miami next year probably. It’s a pity that he is making people pay for Bryce’s daily thoughts on his website. When it all boils down to Butler and his athletes in the media it all comes back to what can benefit him (Butler). He uses these kids for his own personal business which is totally fine but he makes these kids look like idiots to these college coaches. They do not want to go through Butler at all but they know they have to because some how he gets ahold of these big names and profits off of them. I just hope Bell from Carroll sees that he is high enough profile that he does not need this Butler guy. Bell has his family and his coaches. I think every D1 college will offer him and he does not need Butler. Good luck to Bryce. Find a system that works for you. Do what’s best for you, not for anybody else. When you sign do it yourself not with the handler next to you. You never needed him to begin with. Your talent proves that! Good luck!

  • Really??!!

Fballfn…. Maybe I don’t know “big time football”, LOL. But I coach, have even coached college athletics and have even been a “big time recruit”, but I would never represent myself as bryce is by not honoring my commitment, nor would I talk down to another person the way you did on your post.

My point is, why make a commitment, if you still plan to look at other schools? Don’t committ until you’re ready.

  • FBallfn

Matt you could not be more missinformed about Brian Butler and in time the facts will come out and show just how many kids he has and will help achieve there goals. I do wonder how many kids Brian will have to help 10,20,100,200 before people will come to see the good he is doing. Dont believe the “hype” people this is a good man providing a service that is sorely needed.

“Really” im glad you are involed with athletics and im not trying to “talk down” but you clearly dont understand this situation . I keep seeing this word used by you and others “commitment” and try to make it sound like Bryce is doing something wrong which is not true.2 points that i cant seem to get across that Miami understood from the begining exactly what Bryce was doing and 2nd they fired the OC which is a reason for any player to reconsider . Im not sure why this is such a big deal to some around here. I dont pretend to be some genius on recruiting but guys this is not hard to understand im my opinion.

  • dumazxposer

So….what does DeAngelo get out of the deal?

  • Matt

FBallfn – I’m not taking anything away from you, but what I say is real. If you only knew, and I’ll leave it at that. Someday you will see.

  • FBallfn

No dont leave it at that, speak up let us all in on this information thats going to save our kids from the evil Mr Butler. The fact is i do know very well i have talked to the coachs, players and parents and they dont seem to have your version of the story so please enlighten us all. I will ask the ? again how many kid will Brian have to help achieve there goals to convince people since i know full well that Matt is not the only one who thinks this way ? I wonder if any of you really even know what Potential Players is all about or you just believe what you read in the press.

  • Hovpen

Matt: I disagree with you buy you probably don’t care, you have your own agenda with this. FBallfn knows, so do I. You need to take another look at the situation. If enough haters post on a website, do the lies that they post eventually become the truth?

Brian Butlers Potential Players has already gotten our Kansas athletes more attention from football coaches nation wide than they have in a long time. Not just the Browns, but many others as well. He has made countless phone calls and talked to a lot of coaches about players he doesn’t even help train. What exactly are you jealous about here?

  • dumazxposer

So…..what does DeAngelo get out of the deal?

  • FBallfn

poser, speak up ! why is it the haters want to speak in riddles.

  • Hovpen
  • Big B

Brown has every right to back off Miami if he wants. It’s nobodys business but him and his parents. If he and his parents are comfortable with Brian Butler why does anyone here care. My son played for east this year and Wednesday nights were spent having dinner at Brian Butler’s house then watching film. Butler NEVER asked my son to join Pot. Players organization, he just tried to help him be a better player. FOR FREE!!! I would advise my son to look around to if the coach he had “commited” to changed. Who wouldn’t?? For the people who are upset about him looking at other schools or concerned about Brian Butler I would say get a life!!

  • For Pete’s Sake

I am hoping he follows through on Miami. That way we can see him get destroyed on Oct. 4 by OU, well that is if he isn’t on the bench with his brother.

  • Schmakey

All the things you are describing about Butler sounds like NCAA infractions will follow any athlete associated with him in their future. I would just say if this guy approaches you to “help” you and says it is for free, be careful. Nothing is for free, as you see now with him charging for his website. Be careful.

  • FBallfn

pete i knew it full blown “hater” and people wonder why the Brown brothers would want to leave this state ! I should have known by the nonsesne you posted on the other thread.

Schmakey do you not think Brian is in touch with the NCAA? Ya he figures he can break the rules fool everyone and get rich ! yall kill me on here.

  • hater

Butler has had two of our athletes miss team workouts to go to his speed training. As a coach, I will not support, Mr. Butler anymore and I have instructed my student athletes to stay away from him.

I also visited East team camp two years ago when both Brown’s were still there. They were to good for the team then as they stood on the side watching thier teammates practice. They both told coach they were not going to participate that day cause they were tired from workouts with Butler. I don’t know if thier selfishness is a product of Butler or not, but I saw two very selfish players that day.
