Preseason football (6-30)

I’m a day or two late on getting this started. Sorry. Here’s a topic that might get you started talking. If it doesn’t, feel free to write whatever the heck you want about football and how much you miss it and how much life is going to be better when it’s back on the weekly schedule.
Looking at the rules that the state association changed — here’s my story on it from Sunday — was this needed for football?
I hear many coaches say that they just don’t have enough time, that they should be in pads earlier, that it was a little ridiculous to only work with 6 kids at a time when there’s 11 on one side of the ball.
Is that true?
Will baseball take as big of a hit as some think because coaches are adding more time?
Here’s my take after doing that story. I was really surprised that coaches hadn’t added more. There’s so many who believe that coaches are overdoing it, but if all the coaches were honest with me, not that much has changed. Check out the different schools whose coaches I talked to and see what I mean — 15-20 minutes each day, an hour. All during the time that they spent before.
I don’t think any coach wants to go into the football season with dead kids, kids who are overworked and hating football.
I’m sure there are coaches abusing it, and that’s a problem, but the coaches I spoke to — and there were plenty of them — seemed to really be happy with the rule and cognizant of the fact that they need to watch out for their athletes at the same time.
I think kids are so busy in the summer already, and this definitely adds to it. How busy can you be? I loved my summers of chilling out by the pool.
But I also worked, and I went on family vacations, and I did volleyball camps and I did volleyball conditioning and open gym.
Your thoughts? Or feel free to go to another topic.

Every single kid playing high school football dreads the summer workouts and the practice. But when the lights go on they’re pumped up and ready to go. Who care’s if we’re drained we’d like to have the pads on earlier because it will help us in the long run.

Not every kid “dreads” summer workouts or practice but you can make yourself feel better by believeing that if you wish.

Joanna i dont think there are any coachs even coming close to overworking there players . In most cases to excel a player needs to be doing more then just there school workouts.
