How big of a sports fan are you? Will you go to watch a game, even if you don’t have a kid playing or a friend playing? Do you love baseball or softball or soccer so much that you’ll go watch it in the heat of summer? How much money would you pay for a ticket to a professional game to see your favorite players?

I don’t go to many major league games. To much goes on that distracts from the game, especially at the major league level. (fireworks, music etc..) I do go watch high school games that I don’t know anyone at.
In football, on television I do watch the NFL regardless of what team is playing, and college occasionally, but it depends on who is playing.
College basketball regardless of who is playing. I’ve watched maybe 5 NBA games in the last 10 years and did not enjoy any of them. (most of the rules seem to be ignored by everyone)

It is kind of quiet in here, Hovey. Maybe the football folks will jump on this topic. If not, I might use it to start a discussion tomorrow.

OEHAWK…I’d be interested in knowing what Olathe East has coming back.
From my perspective…which means from the little bit of film that one can find on various sources on the internet of the teams I saw from the East, and then analyzing which players on film were underclassman, I’m of the opinion that Olathe North is going to dominate 6A this season. Like I said…I don’t have much info to go off of, but they return basically every offensive lineman that sniffed the field from last year, they bring back every defensive lineman but Kevin Young (which is a big loss obviously)…they have their QB and RB back, a bunch of other guys that played alot at the other skill positions, they have multiple starting LB’s and DB’s back and they have their starting kicker and punter back as well. They put up huge numbers running the football last year with James Franklin, and I just think that they are going to physically man-handle their opponents on their way to state.
Am I wrong???

Hovpen-
I’d say…
6A- Olathe North
—-other contenders…Junction City–they still have a bunch of guys back and have a nice program building. Blue Valley will have a great QB, and in their system, that can take them a long ways. I also like Manhattan for some reason…I’m a sucker for teams with starting running backs returning:)…which also makes me like Wichita Northwest, but they still have to show me something after the way they lost to Carroll and Derby last year.
5A- Hutchinson
—other contenders…Mac–will be really good. Gardner—probably one of the few teams that might be able to match up physically with Hutch due to Diener’s weight room emphasis. I still just don’t believe they’re ready to beat hard hitting teams like Hutch, Mac, Salina South, or Salina Central yet. (if they played those teams throughout the year, there’s no doubt in my mind that they would, but unfortunately for them they play an EXTREMELY soft schedule)
4A- (This one might get people going) Buhler…they have a bunch back and have 2 big-time newcomers to add to the mix, and they have some loaded classes coming through the system.
3A- Garden Plain…don’t know much about 3A…I like Garden Plain though.
2A- Smith Center…should dominate again. ( I think???)

no1-
One is a fullback/linebacker.
I believe the other is what they call a “super back” which can line up as a wide-out to the strong side of a pro-set or a slot in twins, but can also line up as a 3rd back in the backfield. They both have good size.

OE will be loaded with Juniors that had limited Varsity PT, but played on both JV & Soph teams that lost only one Soph game. Lots of speed and size returning. Should be a good season.
