I see this topic is getting some pretty good traffic on the discussion boards — rightfully so since these are two of the perennial powers of Kansas and Missouri — but I did have a request to clear up a misconception about getting tickets.
From Hutchinson’s public information officer: I checked with our AD, Eric Armstrong, and earlier this summer he asked Rockhurst if they wanted any tickets and they did not. So while we expect probably the biggest crowd ever at Gowans Stadium Sept. 4 for the Hutch-Rockhurst game, we’ve not sent 1,000 tickets to Rockhurst for advanced sale and, obviously, they haven’t asked for 1,000 extras.
What is factual is that you can buy tickets ($5 for adults/$3 for students) at Hutchinson High School and on both campuses of Hutchinson Middle School. We’ll accept staff ID badges, student and adult activity passes ($20 for the year for students and $40 for adults), Golden Age passes (a district-issued pass for retirees) as well as AVCTL and KSHSAA passes. Those advanced tickets went on sale Monday and will continue on sale through next week during school hours.
So what are your thoughts on the upcoming game? Is there a bigger game than this one? Heights-Carroll maybe?
