Small-class football (10-11)

One of the biggest games in the state is on Friday — Class 4A No. 1 Andale playing host to No. 2 Buhler. I cannot wait to see this. And then there’s another huge game, one of the biggest in the state — Class 3A No. 1 Garden Plain at No. 2 Conway Springs.
What other big district games are there this week? What should we be watching for?

I’m interested in seeing the 4A game as well. Buhler is a fantastic team, and Andale looks good as well. I think the outcome really just depends on how the Buhler players approach this game, if they see Andale as the state championship machine of two years ago then the game will not go their way. If they play Andale like any other team and stick to their game then I think they’ll win, but by no more than ten points.

Last week watched antother classic game between claflin and pretty prairie. last year we went to claflin and blew a big lead in the 4th and lost on the last play. this year, blew a 38-14 4th qtr lead. got down 44-38 with less than 2 left. scored with 40 secs left, with the 2 pt conversion to go up 46-44. almost left too much time on the clock as claflin got all the way down to the 3 as time ran out. just a great game, 8-man or otheriwse. this week pretty prairie’s at stafford (if they don’t suspend the team) so i’ll be goin to watch buhler at andale. hope to see more fireworks. from what i’ve seen/read, buhler has a very good chance at winning. i predict buhler 35, andale 21.

3A Riverton at Galena. Should decide the CNC title. Galena is undefeated 6-0 by beating St. Mary’s Colgan (5-1) 36-34 in week 2 and Riverton is 5-1 after losing to Colgan 33-6. A win by Galena should guarantee them the title outright. A win by Riverton will likely make a 3-way tie.

Garden Plain at Conway is the best game this week. #1 VS #2 in class 3A. Both team come in with an undefeated record and allot at stake. Conway has shown that they can flat dominate a game on the ground while GP seems to be ok with average numbers on the ground, and can actually beat you with the pass this year. Brill will have his work cut out for him against the stingy defense of Garden Plain. Conway should keep this one close, but I think GP will beat them by 10-14 pts. Good Luck to both teams. should be fun to watch

it should be a classic gp-conway game. it could go either way. good luck to andale as they take on buhler. i would love to attend both games but i will attend garden plain game.

Gp-conway is always a good game. But i am gauranteeing a Conway victory. their line may be small but their strenght is enormous and they will easily overtake the garden plain linemen and wrap up the owls in the back field. And then there is conways offense which will not be stopped. that single wing attack will decieve and dominate the owls. I admit it will be a close game… through the first half! 49-21 Conway in a runaway second half victory!

There’s the bulletin-board material the GP boys were needing. That’s a bold statement considering GP is essentially the same team as last year while Conway Springs lost a key point to their team. I could see it going either way, but I don’t think it will be a blowout.

yeah, can’t wait for the Conway-GP game because both teams are good, and birdman, you weren’t the only reason we won, there is this senior, Caleb Brill who happens to be really good possibly better because of his better attitude!

He played TE I think last year. He plays receiver this year and looks like he is lighting it up. No information about college though.

Withrow filled in last year behind Klausmeyer at TE. Klausmeyer got moved to RB and I assume Withrow would have started at TE this year until WR Jake Becker got injured. Withrow moved to WR and Kerschen became starting TE. Withrow doesn’t have blazing speed, but I think he is faster than the D-backs give him credit for. He seems to get open deep and Bugner has done a very good job of hitting him in stride. Once he is in open field you better be a good tackler.

GP’s passing game against Conway will only be effective if the line can protect Bugner, and I think they can. Withrow is a deep threat, Sponsel is tall and can easily win a jump ball, Kershen is a big kid with good hands coming out of the TE position, and Klausmeyer coming out of the backfield with speed and good hands is second in recieving yards behind Withrow. Then you throw in the chance of Becker being back and you have another speedster with good hands. Who do you defend? They need to protect Bugner. IMO the running game will still be more necessary the winning with the pass.

Its funny when you say the Owls linemen will be overpowered because 3 of the 5 can bench over 320 and 1 can bench 300. the GP linemen will push the Conway D line back ten yards and with their strong backfield, i think the owls will have a GREAT game. And about their single wing offense, The GP Players have seen that their whole lives, so its gonna be complety uneffective! My prediction…… 42-14 GARDEN PLAIN!!!!!

I want to come watch this but I’m loyal I don’t see this being much of a game Garden Plain makes it 5 straight CPL titles as they roll scoring however they want to GP-58 CS-13
