Tonight’s results (12-3)

Just got back from watching Wichita Collegiate defeat Garden Plain. What a game. What a game.
And those Collegiate folks are so nice — they called me out in the nicest way for not predicting that game. And I’m not being facetious.
If you were at a soccer or football game and want to discuss or chat about it, feel free.

Wow Collegiate is a force to be reckoned with, Garden Plain just got shut down and I don’t think they have been beaten that bad in years. My hat is off to Collegiate, they definitely earned many people’s respect tonight.

I was at the game and was really impressed with Collegiate’s defensive effort. They came out got a stop first possession. Right when it looked like Garden Plain was going to really put their stamp on the game and pound it down Collegiate’s throats, the Spartans hunkered down, got stops, forced turnovers and cut the Owl’s hearts out with an impressive drive. Tre Bailey and Raymond Taylor made huge plays, while Jablonski and LeMaster… well you know, they lit it up! Watch out for Collegiate…

Once again, I’m going to say how impressed I was with Hillsboro’s effort tonight. The defense made the necessary adjustments to stop the one-two punch of Hansen and Stucky on the ground attack. Granted, they did get lucky a few times in the second half. Their passing game didn’t have a prayer against the Hillsboro D. Way to go Ben Bebermeyer! Amazing catches, just when you thought there was no way he could get that ball. Looking forward to the Collegiate game.

Did anybody notice the huge chunks of turf that were constantly being dislodged from Collegiates field? Is this their defense against the running game? At least Garden Plain plays honest football and doesn’t rely on athletic scholarships and shenanigans with their playing surface.

You got it handed to you buddy. Deal with it. Paybacks are hell. I wondered how soon it would take for someone to come up with an excuse for loosing. Is the wet field all you can do? Better try again. Collegiate has the best team along with the four best athletes on the field tonight.

Oh yeah, I heard that Collegiate’s grounds keeping crew purposely didn’t upkeep the field over the weekend to destroy their field. I guess they really felt having huge chunks of grass missing from their field would give their – and only their – players an advantage.
C’mon dude, really? The field is the reason? lol…

The field was done in by the rains right before the Independent game.Word I had was that Collegiate Offered to move the game to a neutral site like South, but GP said no.
GP could have played on a field last night that only ran downhill and still not won. That was a thorough cleaning, and it could have been worse.

Yes2u the dodge city-maize game was one you could not miss it was played at a high level and both teams went at it. Maize had lots of chances to score but couldnt capitalize, they owned pretty much the whole game but dodge didnt give up in the 3rd minute of the game they scored a free kick and thats how it ended in half time. In the second half maize kept on attacking both had several shots over goal or in the goalkeeper hands. With maybe 20 minutes left dodge took the ball down the left wing and crossed it to get the second goal of the match. After that Maize still kept on insisting and they would get a nice goal just outside of the 18 with 7 minutes left in the half but it was to late. GO DEMONS

Self Induced Hypnsis: I know a lot of GP fans and the coach and i’m sure they are embarassed by your remarks. The GP football program deserves better than a fan making statements like you made! I have always wished GP the best even though my loyalty is to Andale and I hate to see you make statement that are nothing but “sour grapes” Support your team in a positive way! ( Collegiate! a little humility would go a long way) Thanks

I agree. Self induced, that is as stupid as McEwen and Cheney blaming their loss to Hillsboro back in ‘06 to the narrower goalposts because Hillsboro shares its field with Tabor College. The thing is, McEwen had been the head coach at HHS before, so he knew coming into that game what the conditions would be.
And oldstyle…wouldn’t it be nice if Collegiate practiced a little humility? Too bad they won’t. They never have been, they never will be.

Collegiate’s field was a mess when we were there two weeks ago too. It’s like they keep it soggy on purpose because they know that they can still run their vertical routes but running teams won’t be able to make a decent cut. They tried the same thing against Conway last year!

If the field was so hard to run on how did Raymond Taylor run all over the place?
It is true that WCS wanted to play game at South because fb field is a mess because of all the rain and Puetz said no. Would have been nice for the GP fans to have a place to sit too if only the game had been played at South.

Wow…I’m amazed at all this.”The field was bad, and they kept it soggy last year, too’….are you people really this stupid? Do you not realize that power teams LIKE muddy fields, and finesse teams LIKE dry fields? Do you even think before you type?
I give up. Make excuses all you want. The better team won last night. And the cry for humility…where again is the bragging attitude? It was a good win for Collegiate, over a Garden Plain team that most everyone expected to dominate. Coach Peutz was very gracious…’we just got beat’.
And if you were there two weeks ago, you were either Bluestem or Independent , and I’m doubting the field was your problem.

You are probably the dumbest person that has commented yet. I bet you play for Garden Plain and sat on the sideline the whole time crying. Hey everyone from GP keep all the excuses up when it comes to the field because COLLEGIATE ASKED TO MOVE THE GAME TO ANOTHER LOCATION AND GP SAID NO!

WOW! cannot believe the comments about the field. Collegiate is a team that benefits from a dry, fast, smooth field. GP would benefit from playing in a mud puddle. I assume Peutz, a good football coach , wanted it played right where it was played. It was an advantage to GP.
