Top 100 Wichita high school athletes

We put out a top 100 Wichita high school athletes in 2003, but columnist Bob Lutz revisited it in today’s paper. Check out the list and let’s hear what you think about it. Do you think Carroll’s Blake Bell should be on the list, considering he’s still a senior? Should Demarcus Robinson and Joseph Randle been put on the list?
What do you think about West grad Nick Taylor, a Paralympian, being put on the list?
Who do you think should be on the list?
I love lists, and this is a great one. I talked about it with Bob yesterday, and it was fun debating and trying to come up with those athletes in the past six years that have stood out so much that we needed to put them on. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Bell is good but one of the greatest? No
Too many others multi 3-4 sport stars in all categories

Ricky Ross should have been higher on the list. He was a man among boys in the city league (I include Antoine Carr who played at the same time). I may have missed the criteria because I didn’t read the whole article but that stood out to me as a huge mistake. I guess not having a pro career hurt him on that list.

Buff Farrow in the high numbers? The guy was the number # 1 college player in the country as a senior at UCLA…should be higher up!

I looked at the list and had to chuckle. Either Bob Lutz is incahoots with some of these athletes or he is totally out of touch. Bell is good, but please tell me what the kid has really accomplished thus far? I think we all realize that he enormous potential given his size and body type but what has he done so far? Has he broken any records? Has he led his school to a championship? Hmmm. And Cameron Kasel? Really? Yes, he really was one of Wichita’s finest for sure! Search far and wide…there is no other finer football or baseball player who has accomplished more than he in this area. Bob Lutz, you defy explanation.
