Winter practices start on Monday. I can’t believe it’s a new season of sports starting. Crazy.
Some basketball coaches will have to wait longer than expected for some players — Heights, Derby, Collegiate. Others will get their players sooner — Andale, Garden Plain.

Maybe the best HS football game I’ve ever seen. A lot of smash-mouth football. Both teams were well prepared, and that is a testament to both coaching staffs. Scott City was a class act- sportsmanship before, during, and after the game. A great group of athletes.
Everybody talks about our offense. How about the defense stepping up in the playoffs. Holding GP and Scott City running attacks to 148 and 118 yds rushing.
A special thanks to defensive coordinator Troy Black for another great game plan.
Best Wishes to Coach Clark, who underwent hip replacement surgery earlier this week. Your work with the linemen this year is why we have made it this far.

Lemaster did throw the punch and he will have to sit the next game according to KSHSAA rules. Oh and by the way, Scott City was demolishing Collegiate with the run. Don’t know why they thought that they had to start throwing the ball early in the second half.

Was no “punch thrown”, go look at the video. And certainly nothing that warranted an ejection. Perhaps on the part of the SC player for getting in a cheap shot at the whistle, but not the WC receiver.
I vote for instant replay in high school so we can spend more money on sports.

Seen the game tape, there was a punch thrown and the officials made the right call. Le master of le bench(per KSHSAA RULES) got mad because he got hit when he was standing around looking stupid on defense and then consequently threw a weak, limp wristed punch.
If I were Norton I would wear visors and make sure you tuck your ponytails in! And watch out for the STINK PALM when you beat them!!

I bet if you were to check you’d find out that Joanna loves all teams and she writes about all of them in every single article but her editor has to cut it down because her articles are roughly 700 pages long. Keep up the good work Joanna.
On a side note:
I’m thinking of getting back into boxing and for my comeback fight this LeMaster guy sounds like someone I should contact. Weak, limp wristed punchers are the only ones I could ever beat.

Saw the punch from la master live at the game last night. It was a punch. A very weak one but a punch nonetheless. I could tell he was just angry and hit #45, matt noll’s shoulder pad or upper arm. It was obviously weak because Noll didn’t even turn around right away. Or Noll is just classy like the rest of the Scott City team and ignored that alng with a lot of the smack talk going on by Collegiate. Especially their receivers.

LOL! emab and pigpen are both retarded. first off u can tell that they are both from western kansas hick ville with a name like PIGPEN haha, and they are probably 60 yr olds with no life!! Lets get this straight, Scotty City was talking shizit before the game and a couple of their players were a-holes. Collegiate didn’t play as well as they could of but they stopped Scotty City’s bread and butter plays, so what does SC do? maybe they started to run all their trick plays to get yards. I was on the field right next to Brett when he got punched in the face while the ref wasn’t looking and Brett did not throw a punch but flailed his arm at the kid because he was pissed. Those ref’s did pretty good but also made some horrible calls. Scott City did have alot of cool kids that showed their class and came up and talked to us for a while after the game outside the lockeroom, but #73 for SC was the biggest D-bag on their team because he thought he was BA with his mohawk but he sucks a football. Brett will be playing next game because their are no rules that says he cant, and him getting ejected was the biggest joke i have ever seen, how does that even happen? Scott City was a great team and the best we have faced all year but shut up with the stink palm. where did that even come from? If you were actually at the game i bet your drive home was an awesome and enjoyable 4 hours in which you probably thought of everything you were going to say on this blog.

Wise ole owl, drop by the house for coffee and I’ll show you the video. :)
I do not think the state has a policy on this, although some school districts do. However, if they have a policy, then they also have an appeals process and given the tape, and my experience in the school systems, I believe any appeal would win out in this case.
If you know me, you also know that if he delivered a cheap shot, I’d be among the first to say sit him out.
I would be more interested to know why SC attempted a field goal on third down with 19 seconds left instead of throwing one more sideline pass to try and get closer.
This game still ranks in my top five games seen this decade.

Hovpen, the explanation I heard, and I’m not sure it is a good one, was that Scott City was out of timeouts, and they did not think they could run a playthat stayed in bounds and get their unit on the field in time. Not sure that’s right, but maybe?

I konw of 2 basketball starters that play football. I know of about 20 wrestlers that play football as well… :) To me as a wrestling coach, it is all worth it after seeing those kids face coming off the field in Manhattan last Friday.
I would love to have my whole team tonight… but if I don’t get them until the first week of December… I am o.k. with that. You can only be a kid one time and only get four years to play high school footbal. I am excited for Friday!!!

From the KSHSAA handbook-
“In all team and individual sports (varsity or sub-varsity), ejection or disqualification from a game, meet, or match for unsportsmanlike behavior of any form, by a coach or a player shall result in the suspension of that player or coach. The coach or player ejected from a contest must sit out all contests, at all levels until the coach or athlete completes the ejection penalty by sitting out the next game at the level from which he/she was ejected. This rule applies to a game, meet, or match suspended before completion as well as a completed contest. This penalty may not be served by sitting out an exhibition, subvarsity, or other competition.
A suspended coach may not be present at the game site. Not being physically present at the site means the disqualified coach is not to be present in the locker room, on the sidelines, in the stands, or site area before, during, or after the game/meet.
Any coach or player ejected from the last game, meet, or contest of a sports season shall serve a one game suspension in the opening countable game, meet, or contest in the next varsity sport in which he/she participates. The coach/athlete may participate fully in the preseason prior to serving the one game suspension.
This policy will not prevent standing committees from imposing more restrictive disciplinary action.”
