So I wrote a column about a memory from high schools in 2009. What are your favorite memories?
Is it a game? A moment within a game? A huge performance? An injury? Feel free to share.

I found it curious that you didn’t mention any baseball players in your “best of 2009″ from the high school ranks, but you mentioned a softball player, 3 football players and two wrestlers?

Also, there were a couple of track and field standouts…

King Kong — My goal was not to mention everyone, but to mention a few. What this forum allows, as does the comments section at the end of stories, is for readers such as yourself to add your thoughts. But the column was not meant to be all-inclusive.

Here’s what your small byline reads in the Wichita Eagle:THE EAGLE SPORTS STAFF TAKES A LOOK BACK AT THE BEST OF 2009. LOOK FOR BEAT WRITER’S PERSPECTIVES THROUGH THURSDAY. Everyone who picks up the newspaper reads what you have put down in writing to be your opinion, what you believe to be your top choices of 2009. In my opinion, because of the byline and how it is written, it seems like you feel that these athletes you have mentioned are YOUR top choices for 2009 and if I feel that way from reading your column, I’m guessing others probably do as well. Personally, I am usually very pleased with how well-rounded you are (not the Eagle itself so much) and with acknowledging athletes in all areas. This column was just not your usual covering of all the bases that I am used to. Hopefully you can look at this from my perspective.

King Kong — you certainly have a right to your own opinion, no doubt about it. I don’t take that away from anyone — unless of course they are dogging kids. But that’s pretty well documented.
Again, it was my memories from 2009, not everyone not every memory, but a few.
At the end of each school season, we have a full list of all the state champs, etc. This was just a few. Again, a few memories, not every single memory. If I wrote every single thing I enjoyed and was impressed with from 2009, I’d need the whole sports section. I had about 12 inches.

How about how great Collegiate was this year. Most of our guys got slighted off of the all 11 teams, but they would have starred on any team out there. Jablowski, Lemaster, Cornejo, and Baley should have all made the shrine bowl and started. no player is better than any of them at their respective positions.

Sparty: The selection of the Shrine team does not allow for multiple players from any one team. There are always players that get left off these types of teams. That would be an interesting thread….top players not in the shrine game…

Too many kids to choose from, it’s fair though you can’t pick everyone.
