9:23 p.m. — McPherson wins, beating Beloit 41-24. McPherson will play Olathe South in tomorrow’s final. Sadly, I don’t think that game will be close. Olathe South is way too tough.
9:18 p.m. — A Beloit fan just yelled ‘Boring’ at the McPherson girls, who are passing the ball around the perimeter to take time off the clock. It might be boring early in the game, but when your team is down 22, as Beloit is, with 2:30 to go, you must chant ‘thank you’ because McPherson is taking pity on you and not running it up.
(Oh my, I just used a Bob Knight-ism. Remember when he said that KSU fans should chant thank you, thank you during the Texas win. Gag!)
9:15 p.m. _ McPherson has made this a ho-hum game. It’s 39-19 with 4:37 to go.
Most high schools probably don’t need an athletics hall of fame. They may have had a handful of national-caliber athletes, but not enough to create a need for bronze busts and a new wing off the gymnasium.
East High is Kansas’ top exception.
The school will induct seven former Blue Aces at halftime of the Feb. 25 boys basketball game. When you go through this list, realize these guys didn’t make the cut in the school’s first five induction classes:

I’m sure there are plenty of postponements out there — for all sports — so feel free to share what you have. The first postponement I have affects me, so we’ll go with that one first!
At McPherson, the Valley Center-Andale game scheduled for 4:45 p.m. today will be played Saturday at 10 a.m. The rest of the final games will all go as scheduled on Saturday. Today’s first game will be at 4:30 between Hays and Buhler and will go as scheduled from there.

*Anyone have any snow stories? I drove home from Newton and it wasn’t bad last night. Except when cars would pass me and then kick up all that snow. It was like a blizzard when that happened.
*If you have a postponement, feel free to let us know.
*Since I like to look for the positives, what’s the best part of today? Is it the snow day? (For me, it was when my mom, who is visiting, said I could go back to bed when the kids got up since I got home so late last night. That was truly bliss!)

If the blog is being updated too slowly for your taste, check me out on Twitter — @joannachadwick. I update that usually as much, but it also seems to update more quickly.
9:45 p.m. — Newton beats Dodge City 43-38 to advance to the semifinals of the Newton tournament on Friday night. Newton shot 14 of 18 free throws in the final period, with Kate Lehman scoring 8 of her 13 points at the line — in the fourth period.
A’zlynn Thompson scored 13 for Dodge City.
Newton will play Bishop Miege on Friday night.

So there’s a threat of nasty weather here for the next two days: Do you stay home or head to any basketball, wrestling, swimming, bowling events that you would have gone to anyway?
Next question: Do you complain that it’s going to snow, even though, let’s be honest, it is January.
Final question: What TV show or movie do you see yourself represented most in? (There’s a character who’s just like you or a friend or family member….)

It’s Wednesday, which means I’ll be chatting from 1-2 p.m. at blogs.varsitykansas.com. Got a topic? Got a question? Got anything you want to talk about? That’s the place to be.
So what’s on your mind today? Is Wednesday a tougher day than Monday? (It is for me. Late Tuesday nights kill me for Wednesday morning.)

What is there to say about this one? Heights defeated an over-matched South team by 50 points.
Perry Ellis scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. In front of coaches from Wichita State and Arkansas-Little Rock, Evan Wessel was 2 of 12 for 4 points and 6 steals.
The biggest news from this game was the Titans missing six of their top eight scorers on the season. Coach Steve Lilly chose not to comment on why the players did not suit up, but talking to players led me to believe they were gone indefinitely. Click the jump to read more.
