Zack Hood has been named the El Dorado football coach, replacing Bruce Graber. Hood has quite a resume — he played at KU, and was part of the coaching staffs of Kansas, South Dakota and Marshall.

realist — I take it you don’t like my word choice. Let’s see, he’ll be coaching at a 4A school, yet he has experience coaching in college and he played college ball at KU. Yeah, that’s a resume. I like it. Not many around that have that.

  3. realist says:

Coached at college? GA is not necessarily coaching anyways I mean he could have been a video guy or something. What did he play at KU? R U putting down 4A football by saying this guy they settled with is only coaching 4A ball so its no big deal.

Oh my. Realist, you are reading into what I write way too much. I don’t put down kids, I don’t put down programs. Yeesh.
So you’re saying you’re unimpressed? That I gave him too many props? Your opinion. I liked his resume. My opinion.

Good hire. The Kids at El Dorado are excited to play for him and they can’t wait to meet him.

  9. NCKS says:

Is this person certified to teach or just coach? Again, another example of a school hiring someone to win rather than work with what they have. I personally know one of the assistants at El Dorado who has been there several years who applied, who would know the program, is young, know the players, has playing experience, and would benefit the program, and who applied for the job. BUT he doesn’t have quite a “resume”.

I’d like to see the dates attached to the resume entries. There is no zack hood anywhere in Marshal’s archives.

  14. BigRed says:

Lets let the guy meet the players and see how they take to him. El Dorado isn’t an easy place to coach. It makes sense to those on the outside looking in to promote someone the players know, but maybe that hurt the assistants chances a bit since the program wasn’t exactly moving in a good direction.

Sounds like a good hire but the key will be what kind of staff he can put together and if they all “buy in ” NCKS, ME If you want a quality football program this is the best move and hopefully your guy will do everything he can to support the new Head man.Theres a reason some programs are sucessfull year after year and a reason some are not. Sounds like the AD gets it to me. Well done

The Guy who is there will work hard to get along with anyone. He is a good young coach with a lot of passion for the kids at El Dorado. If the new hire is smart he will do what it takes to keep this guy with him. I know he will do a good job for Coach Hood, if he stays.

Sounds like a good coach. Good luck to him and El Dorado..however special teams coordinator at Nevada Community High School? Come on now everybody does special teams at a small school like that. lol talk about trying to make the resume look good.

In TX that is probably a 100K per year job with four assistants.

  19. ks07 says:

trust me bucocatfan..Nevada Community isn’t paying much for a football coach. Not a huge school and not a lot of tradition in football. The funny thing here is the whole special teams coordinator title. At a small school like that do you really have a designated “special teams coordinator” It’s not like he got extra stipend for it or anything. lol

Give the new guy a chance hes going into one of the worst 4-A programs in the state. The material is there to build a program. But what i saw this year he has a long way to go.

Again, this is just an example of screwed up priorities. What happens to “loyalty” to those that have been there as part of the coaching staff through these last few tough seasons. Also, this isn’t a college. High School football should be seen for what it is, a sport. But nowadays, we have too much of the “win at all costs” mentality.
