What a great first day of basketball on Wednesday (second for 1A), but now we’ve got another one. Yep, it doesn’t get any better than this.
So what did you see that impressed you? What are you looking forward to today?

In 6A today — Heights boys play Manhattan, which is playing its third straight City League team. Maize plays Leavenworth, a dangerous team.
In 5A girls, Bishop Carroll has Newton, which should be a nice matchup inside, Andover Central opens the day with Shawnee Heights, while McPherson closes out the day with Bishop Miege
In 4A boys, it’s Nickerson plays Coffeyville and Circle plays Pratt.
In 3A girls, Marion plays Beloit and Hillsboro has Garden Plain — I truly believe any of those teams has a good chance of playing in the title game on Saturday.
In 2A boys, Berean plays Lyndon.
In 1A’s semifinals, Argonia plays St. Paul. Argonia’s looking to close out a perfect season, but then so is St. Paul.

What would it take to get KSHSAA to move 5A state to the Intrust Bank Arena? The Expo Center is a dump, first time I’ve been there and I was not impressed at all. Two small score boards that you can barely see, it’s got to be tough on the players to play and look at the score board at the same time. It’s drab and glommy.
If any one wants to complain about leg room at the IBA, go to Expo Centre. There lower seats have about as much leg room as the upper bowl at IBA.
