Heights sophomore Perry Ellis was named the ESPN RISE sophomore of the year. Just another honor for the sophomore, who is a two-time All-Metro pick, a two-time All-State pick, a two-time Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year.

National Sophomore Player of the Year:
Perry Ellis, Wichita Heights (Wichita, Kan.) 6-8 F

Ellis led the 23-2 Falcons to their second consecutive Class 6A state title by averaging 22.2 points and 10.4 rebounds. He pumped in 20 points and 11 rebounds in the state final. DaJuan Coleman of Jamesville-Dewitt (Dewitt, N.Y.) edged Ellis for freshman honors last season. This season, however, Ellis stepped up his game and led Heights to a No. 44 finish in the ESPN RISE FAB 50. The first-ever sophomore pick from Kansas, Ellis is already a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year.
