We’re at the midpoint of the season (OK, not exactly), so I’m looking for your ideas on who should be on the All-Metro soccer team.

Several players from the 2009 All-Metro team are back, including Kapaun’s Caroline Kastor, Maize’s Miranda Holmes and Heights’ Rebekah Ramstack.

What I’m looking for is you not just throwing out names, but tell me why you think they should be All-Metro.

A little background: We send surveys to the soccer coaches in Harvey, Sedgwick and Butler counties and ask for their nominations for All-Metro from their team and opponents’ teams.

We then pick the All-Metro team and coach of the year.

Undoubtedly Kastor(KMC) and Ramstack(Heights) again. Selby Polley from Heights also should definitely make it. As of right now she is the leading goal scorer in the CL. Heights also with Scott. For Maize, Holmes(goals/assists), Lyden(goals), Terry(goals/assists), Shupe(assists/defense), Galliher(goals). Could be the year of the “Keep” with some good ones such as Keighton Allen at Carroll, Poland at East, Lujano at KMC, Gresham at Heights, McCaffrey at Northwest. All have been doing a fine job in keeping opposing offenses from scoring.
Other players that have a definite impact for their team are Walden, Salinas and Wiesen for Carroll. East High’s Eckengren and Sinik. Northwest’s Tracy and Craft. KMC’s Kruse and Schmming. Goddard’s Richard and Derby’s Provencio.
As I’m sure many more out there that I missed, but this start will hopefully get the rest of you to chime in about some other great players out there!

Pfaff(Goals) and Raevsky(Goals & Assists) Rose Hill – Offense, Sellew Andover Offense(she is Andovers best all around player), Sementelli Andover Central(Goals/Defense), Allen (GK) Carroll, Kastor KMC(Goals), Polley Heights(best scorer in Metro), Buhler has a defender #4 I think, can not remember her name, Shupe, Maize, solid defender, Crawford Derby, defense. Iknow I left off many quality players, but thats my team, its probably not balanced offense / Defense, but there it is…

Oh, I also meant to put Holmes (Maize) and Ramstack (Heights) on the list….

Michaela Moore, goalkeep for Goddard needs to be considered, just as talented as the other gk mentioned.

Polley from Heights, Holmes, Lyden, Terry from Maize.

East has a very fast forward with good ball skills, don’t remember her name.

Kastor/Kaupan and I think her name is Taylor Kruse? Both very strong.

BC has many, all their seniors are very strong, not to mention several sophomores, very well-rounded team this year.

Ashley Howell, defender from KMC. She was First Team 5A All State last year and 5A defender of the year and has put together an even better season this year.

I obviously have seen this team play a lot this season but there are a few from Rose Hill that deserve to be looked at! First, Olivia Hull a sophomore midfielder has been playing very well since her return from a preseason injury. She has given RH an offense that they didn’t have prior to her not being there. Tremendous skills and a great field general! Second, what about the All-State 1st Team Goalkeeper they have from last year also a sophomore? Rose Hill is still a solid team but not what they were last year. And this keeper keeps putting up solid numbers and last night was a big part in their win over Andover Central. Technically one of the better keepers in this area if not the State. Just a couple of names that were left of the list so far!

Who’s your keeper at RH? Yes, Hull is very talented, and so is Miranda, not sure how to spell her name, it starts with an R. RH is solid, also good coach.

MaKenzie Smith she was 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-Region, and 1st Team All-League in her freshman year. Raevsky is the girl you are talking about.

While the team has improved, but still struggling, Mulvane has a sweeper now that has saved them a ton. She is number 19 and a freshman. On a team hurt by injuries she has been an anchor for them at defense.

Forgot about offense. Buhler has a center forward, cant remember for sure but I think her number is 20. Very nice speed as well as ball control. Rosehill has an offensive player, Phaff or something like that. Also another very well rounded forward with plenty of offensive skills.
