Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon called to offer Heights junior forward Perry Ellis a basketball scholarship this morning. That makes eight schools so far. Kentucky, Oklahoma, Kansas, K-State, WSU, Wake Forest and Memphis have also extended offers this summer to the Heights junior forward.
Be sure to check out Joanna Chadwick’s Q&A session with Bishop Carroll volleyball coach Rita Mernagh. Also go online and pick up a paper Sunday to see which area coach will be featured on a Q&A.
My partner sure knows how to pick someone’s brain to get the best answers possible. So it won’t be boring.
I found an interesting video about a former softball pitcher at Dawson High School in Texas that advocates face masks for pitcher and other select infielders. She was hit with a line drive and suffer a skull fracture as well as other injuries. Anyone have any thoughts on this.
Also be sure to look at this video I shot to go along with my Sunday story “Soccer goal: education, awareness”
Rose Hill offensive lineman senior Brady Foltz committed to Texas Christian University. He will join his older Brother Blaize in Fort Worth, TX as a part of the Horned Frogs.
He chose TCU after receiving offers from Buffalo, Air Force and Colorado State
I had a chance to talk with Rose Hill football coach Greg Slade about what he thinks his team will stand this season. After such a great year in 2009, Rose Hill will have to work hard against a tough schedule in order to continue its success. Click to check out the Q&A on kansas.com.
The Top 30 American high school basketball players will play the best international players (19 and under) in a 12-team tournament from August 6-8. The Nike Global Challenge will be played at Liberty High School in Hillsboro, Ore. and Heights forward Perry Ellis will play representing the U.S.
It will cap off what has been a busy summer for Ellis.
This is one of my favorite topics because there’s so many good points on both side of the discussion. I personally prefer multiple sports because I think it helps in not getting burned out and I believe that it works different aspects of an athlete physically and mentally (especially because of the experience with different coaches).
There’s some outstanding multiple sport athletes in the Wichita area right now, who are your favorites?
Hmmm, what to talk about to get you guys going in a good discussion or actually sharing. Anyone have an idea? We’re about a month away from football and all the other fall sports, so that’s always good.
Let’s hear what’s on your mind. George Steinbrenner? Why celebrities tend to die in groups of three? Why it’s so hot and humid (the part I detest)? When will the football preview section come out?
This got me thinking, what are the best venues for state high school championships and what are the worst? I’m excited about Class 6A basketball being at Koch Arena, but I sure loved it at Emporia’s White Auditorium.
