Since we’re clearly going to be snowed/iced in across the state — at least that’s what everyone keeps telling me — please let us know if your event has been postponed and until when.
The only one I know of so far is Fort Scott vs. Coffeyville being moved to Feb. 7. You can also e-mail me at jchadwick@wichitaeagle.com.
This weekend’s girls tournaments proved to be just what I needed to gain perspective on girls basketball around the state. (more…)

The first day football players can sign is Wednesday, so watch for our list of expected signees.
Coaches, if you have a player signing, please e-mail me at jchadwick@wichitaeagle.com with the player’s name, college, height, weight and position.
I just got word that Kapaun’s Michael Reynolds is signing with Kansas, so that clears up everything there. Of course, he joins Heights’ Dreamius Smith.
Any signing that you’re especially pleased to see? Feel free to share.

You can always follow me on Twitter — @joannachadwick — and @varsitykansas.
Check out the video below of the McPherson student section, one of the best around.
10:04 p.m. — The McPherson-Olathe South matchup is what we’ve wanted, so check out what McPherson coach Chris Strathman and senior Casyn Buchman had to say about this upcoming title game.

Remember to follow @joannachadwick on Twitter for any updates. Also, follow @varsitykansas for updates from across the state.
8:38 p.m. — McPherson leads Hays 47-21 after three. McPherson is clearly one of the best teams here. Goddard had an outstanding game, but I can’t see the Lions beating McPherson. I’m predicting a McPherson-Olathe South final.
I know, way to go out on a limb!

I will be chatting live with Chris from 1 -2 p.m. today. This is a great time to talk about your favorite team, your favorite sport, Tuesday’s thriller between Heights and East boys basketball teams, the just-finished boys tournament weekend, the current girls tournament week, the huge wrestling duals tonight and Thursday.
Let’s chat!

Heights beat East in an overtime thriller. It sounds like it was a great game and a great atmosphere with a ton of fans. Love that the East gym can hold so many fans. Remember the old days in that awful gym that seated around 1,000? Lot of history there, but it’s great to see so many more people actually getting to experience it.
South and West also went into overtime, with South getting the win. Kapaun beats Southeast, despite 29 points from Gavin Thurman. Northwest beats Carroll by two.
Goddard continues to struggle, losing to Hutchinson. I was surprised to see Goddard lose to Shawnee Heights in the tournament. Collegiate beats Augusta by six after having a 19-point lead midway through the final period.
Berean Academy beat Trinity Academy 59-39. I’m not sure what’s going on with Trinity, but that’s the Knights’ third straight loss after starting the season undefeated and being ranked in Class 4A. Berean is a legit team, no doubt about it. But losing by 20 is surprising.
Want to fill us in on the game you were at? Want to talk about a great play? We’d love to hear about it.
