Midseason basketball tournaments (2011)

This could be my favorite time of year. I love all the tournaments, and wish I had a magic wand or magic carpet or a jet so I could go see all the different tournaments.
Alas, I’ll be sticking in Topeka to watch that tournament, which will be attended by East and Northwest.
Which tournament will you be going to? Which are the best? It’s primarily boys tournaments this week, with girls getting the focus next week.
McPherson looks to have the best boys tournament this week. There’s top-ranked Heights, there’s McPherson, ranked first in 5A, there’s two-loss Maize, which just got a quality win over Andover Central (then-ranked fifth in 5A).
I’m looking forward to a good tournament at Topeka, too. Olathe South, Highland Park, Northwest, East, KC Washington. Yeah, this is a good tournament.
The Valley Center tourney has Schlagle, BV Northwest (ranked second) and Southeast.
El Dorado has a good tourney, too. Collegiate, Circle, Great Bend, Gardner-Edgerton, Trinity.
That Great Bend-Gardner-Edgerton game to start off should be awfully good. And maybe you’ll get to see a matchup of two of the top football recruits in Kansas — Jordan Phillips and Bubba Starling.
