I first met Gardner-Edgerton senior Bubba Starling at The Eagle’s Top 11 luncheon shortly after the 2010 football season ended. He was such a nice guy, and I was impressed with his humility, especially when I mentioned to him about his having been ranked as the country’s top baseball player.

His reaction? Wow, I know. That was so cool.

I was blown away, highly impressed.

Today Starling is one of the main features on ESPN.com’s front page. What will he do? Will he sign with a MLB team after he’s drafted (he’s expected to be one of the top draft picks)? Will he go to Nebraska to play football and baseball?
