Andover Central’s Jorden Kaufman commits to Oral Roberts
Sept. 18, 2011 @ 7:34 p.m. by Tony AdameAndover Central forward/center Jorden Kaufman committed to Oral Roberts over breakfast with coach Scott Sutton this morning in Tulsa, where he was on his official visit to the school. I spoke with Jorden this evening and the 6-foot-11 senior seemed relieved to have ended his recruiting process. Kaufman picked the Golden Eagles over Evansville, Northern Colorado and Jacksonville.
“I really just wanted to get it over with so I could enjoy my senior year,” Kaufman said. “I talked to my parents on Saturday night and told them that I was leaning towards ORU … I just liked everything about the school and the team.”
Kaufman only played the first 11 games with the Jaguars last season before a foot injury sidelined him for the rest of the year. He made a big impression on the AAU circuit this summer playing with Athletes First out of OKC and Kansas Select.
“He’s got good ball skills and can face up and shoot the ball really well,” Andover Central coach Jesse Herrmann said. “He hasn’t reached anywhere close to what his ceiling is athletically … Oral Roberts gets a player who is just going to keep getting better.”
